MINNEAPOLIS — #29 Pepperdine scored six runs in the top of the ninth to complete its second consecutive rally, and The Waves claimed a 10-4 win over TCU on Saturday at the Minnesota Dairy Queen Classic in Minneapolis.
The Waves (5-1) extended their winning streak to four games, while TCU fell to 3-3. The Waves trailed yesterday to Tulane 2-1 in the sixth inning, but rallied to claim a 4-2 win over the #18th-ranked Green Wave. Pepperdine improved to 2-0 at the Dairy Queen Classic with the win.
Pepperdine fell behind early, as the Horned Frogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning behind two RBI doubles. The Waves closed to within 2-1 in the fourth, as Eric Thames (San Jose, Calif./West Valley JC/Bellarmine Prep) doubled with one out and scored on Ryan Heroy’s (Henderson, Nev./Green Valley HS) RBI single. Chase d’Arnaud (Long Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos HS) tied the score in the sixth inning with his third home run of the season, but TCU answered back with two runs in their half of the sixth inning to reclaim the lead at 4-2.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Sophomore southpaw Aaron Loup struck out six while freshman third baseman Rob Segedin and junior first baseman Sam Honeck posted two hits apiece, but it was not enough as the Tulane University baseball team dropped a 7-5 decision to host Minnesota in day two of the Dairy Queen Baseball Classic Saturday evening at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.
Tulane led 5-2 after six and a half innings, but the Gophers plated a single run in the seventh and hung a four-spot in the eighth to account for the final score. With the loss, the Green Wave fall to 5-2 on the year. Minnesota, meanwhile, improves to 1-4.
The Green Wave had a chance to make some noise in the top of the ninth as junior second baseman Anthony Scelfo drew a one-out walk to bring the tying run to the plate. Gophers’ closer Seth Rosin, however, came on to post a strikeout and got junior catcher Jared Dyer to fly out deep to right to earn his first save of the year.
