From Press RELEASE

AUSTIN, Texas - St. Edward’s cranked out 11 hits in a seven-inning route of Texas A&M-Kingsville Tuesday afternoon at Lucian-Hamilton Field.

Hilltopper left fielder Bradley Goldsmith led off the game with a solo home run to center field and set the pace for St. Edward’s (13-5) in its seven-inning ‘mercy rule’ victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville (11-8).  The Hilltoppers cranked out 11 hits, with eight starters collecting at least one hit.

Third baseman Brian Thomas led the way for the Hilltoppers.  Thomas went 3-5 with six RBI’s.  Shortstop Jeremy Houser collected two hits, two RBI’s, and three runs scored.  Center fielder Chris Dinges went 2-4.  Second baseman Drew Cross added another two RBI’s as well.

St. Edward’s offense stole the show today but the Hilltopper pitching staff also played a key role in this win.  James Belliveau (2-0) started the game and worked six innings, giving up three run (two earned runs) on seven hits and striking out four Javelina hitters.  This victory marked the second time this season that Belliveau has defeated Texas A&M-Kingsville.

The Hilltoppers will be back in action Friday as they host Panhandle State.  Game time is set for noon at Lucian-Hamilton Field.
