The University of Alabama will host Vanderbilt in an SEC series this weekend. Alabama enters with an overall record of 9-10 and 0-3 in the SEC after being swept by Kentucky. Brandon May is the leading hitter for the Tide with a .386 average. The team is only batting .302 on the year so they need to step it up if they expect to compete against a tough Vanderbilt squad. The Alabama pitching staff ERA is 5.48 which is horrible for a team in the SEC. The top pitcher for the Tide is Austin Hyatt who is 2-1 with a 4.12 ERA.
The Commodores enter the weekend with an overall record of 13-4 while taking two out of three games from South Carolina. Alex Feinberg leads the team in hitting with a .433 average while Andrew Giobbi is hitting .403. The Vanderbilt pitching staff is loaded as Caleb Cotham has gotten off to the best start with a 3-0 record and a 1.88 ERA. Mike Minor is 2-1 with a 2.08 ERA and Taylor Hill with a 1-0 record and a 0.71 ERA.

This is going to be interesting to watch, as both Jacobson and Christiani have now fallen out of the weekend rotation. Both Cotham and Hill are Mt. Juliet-born freshman (Cotham a RS). Cotham has proved he has future Friday starter written all over him, but it will be interesting to see what Hill brings.
