Pollock and Phelps Earn Notre Dame Sweep Of BIG EAST Baseball Honors for April 14th

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The BIG EAST has named Notre Dame sophomore A.J. Pollock BIG EAST Player of the Week and Notre Dame junior David Phelps BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week.

Pollock earns his second consecutive Player of the Week honor after leading the Irish to a 5-0 week. The sophomore hit .579 (11-for-19) with eight runs scored and five RBIs. Pollock recorded a pair of doubles, a pair of triples and one home run to slug 1.053 for the week. He posted four multi-hit games, including three three-hit performances.

Phelps completed the ND sweep of the weekly awards after earning a Friday night win over Villanova. The junior went 8.2 innings, scattering five hits and surrendering only an unearned run. The righty struck out eight and walked two for his fourth win of the year.

The BIG EAST has announced that XM Radio will carry a BIG EAST Baseball Game of the Week. Remaining games to be featured are Rutgers at Cincinnati on May 3, Louisville at West Virginia on May 10 and Notre Dame at USF on May 17.
