Post script, actually, looking at the math again, I think LSU could theoretically get into hoover with some serious luck.

As of now, they can't rank higher than:
UGA (record)
VU (record)
South Carolina (tie break)
Florida (tie break)

Assume that MSU finishes 6-0:

One more win guarantees the following teams will be ahead of MSU:
LSU (MSU and Auburn)
Bama (UF and UGA)
Ole Miss (Auburn and UK)

Two more wins guarantees the following teams will be ahead of MSU:
Kentucky (UT and Ole Miss)
Arkansas (SC and MSU)

Three more wins guarantees the following teams will be ahead of MSU:
Tennessee (UK and SC)
Auburn (Ole Miss and LSU)

Realistically, the breakdown with teams playing each other means that MSU has virtually no shot at the post season.
For example, either Auburn or Ole Miss will be ahead of MSU after their series is over. And if Auburn doesn't sweep Ole Miss next weekend, at least two of Auburn, Ole Miss and LSU will be ahead of MSU in the standings at the end of the year.

Ron Polk engineered a great run at the end of last year, so who knows. But it looks like a sure thing they'll avoid the post season this year.
