WAC Baseball Players of the Week for May 5th-11th

WAC LogoDENVER, CO – Hawai‘i outfielder Brandon Haislet and Fresno State pitcher Jason Breckley have been named the Western Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for May 5-11.

Haislet, a senior from Sacramento, Calif. (Cosumnes River College), hit .647 (11-for-17) with 12 RBI, a home run, two doubles and eight runs scored as Hawai‘i split a four-game road series at New Mexico State. In the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader, Haislet went 5-for-5 at the plate with a career-high seven RBI, three runs, a home run and a double. He then went 4-for-5 with three RBI and four runs in the nightcap. Haislet had a .941 slugging percentage on the weekend and a .714 on base percentage.

Breckley, a senior from Moorpark, Calif. (Moorpark HS), pitched in two games last week for the Bulldogs. Breckley pitched one inning with two strikeouts and no hits against No. 25 Long Beach State. He then picked up his second save of the season, pitching 3.2 innings with a strikeout to help the Bulldogs to a 5-3 win over San Jose State. On the week, Breckley pitched 4.2 innings without giving up a run. He had three strikeouts on the week.

The other hitter of the week nominations: Fresno State sophomore Alan Ahmady, New Mexico State senior Joseph Scaperotta, Nevada sophomore Shaun Kort, and Sacramento State senior David Flores.

The other pitcher of the week nominations: Hawai‘i freshman Sam Spangler, New Mexico State junior Heath Goin, and Nevada senior Kyle Howe.
