Marshals defeat Bombers 6-4 to eliminate Brazos Valley.

McKinney, TX (August 7, 2008) –

The Bombers fought hard, but in the end came up short as they were eliminated by the McKinney Marshals after losing 6-4. The Marshals will move on to face the Coppell Copperheads in a rematch of last season’s TCL Championship.

Nick Anders homered for the second consecutive game in the first inning to put the Bombers up 2-0, but the Marshals slowly climbed back in the game against Jim McGonigle. Although McGonigle held them scoreless for the first four innings, the Marshals were unfazed and put a run on the board in the fifth to close the gap to 3-1. The following inning, McKinney got the big inning they were waiting for, as they poured in four runs to take a 5-3 lead. J.B. Brown led the way with a two-run double and advanced all they around to score on two errors. The Bombers never gave up, but were only able to come within one run of the Marshals.

The Bombers would like to thank their many sponsors and supporters for another fantastic season of Texas Collegiate League baseball and we look forward to seeing you against next summer!
