Brandon Anderson Named Assistant Baseball Coach At Temple

PHILADELPHIA – Brandon Anderson, an All-American and professional baseball player who played two seasons at Gloucester County College under current Temple head coach Rob Valli, has been named an assistant baseball coach for the Owls. Anderson is currently in his second season playing professional baseball for the Kalamazoo Kings of the Frontier League.

“Brandon has always been an extremely talented and highly motivated student of the game, so his transition from player to coach should be easy,” Valli said. “He will be an excellent coach and role model for our team.”

“Ever since my college days, I hoped to someday coach with Coach Valli,” Anderson said. “I’m looking forward to helping the Owls reach the NCAA Tournament.” FULL STORY

Kansas Baseball to Hold Open Tryouts

The University of Kansas baseball team will hold open tryouts to fill the roster for the upcoming 2008 season. An informational meeting will be held on Thursday, Aug. 28 in Hadl Auditorium at 4 p.m.

All interested persons should plan to attend this meeting with a proof of medical insurance, a recently completed physical (within the last six months) and a copy of their KU class schedule. FULL STROY

George Mason Baseball Adds Kyle Werman as Assistant Coach

George Mason baseball head coach Bill Brown has announced the addition of a new member to his coaching staff as Kyle Werman has been hired to fill out the staff. Werman, a former collegiate and professional baseball player, will work with Mason’s hitters and infielders. FULL STORY

Michael Johnson Joins Clemson Baseball Staff as Volunteer Assistant

Clemson Baseball Head Coach Jack Leggett announced the addition of former Tiger All-American Michael Johnson to the coaching staff on Wednesday. Johnson, who will work primarily with the infielders and hitters, will serve as the Tigers’ volunteer assistant coach. He replaces Toby Bicknell, who became an assistant coach at Davidson in early August.

Campbell Baseball Inks Five More to Wrap-up 2008 Class

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Head Coach Greg Goff has announced the completion of his 2008 recruiting class by signing five more student-athletes. Chris Bangi, Kevin Nelson, Thomas Valenza, Parker Fleming and Luke Pritchett join 10 other players to form one of the best recruiting classes in Campbell history.

With the addition of these five players the final 2008 recruiting class consists of 15 players from nine different states, which brings the total team representation to 13 states. The Camels signed seven Junior College All-Region players and five players who were either junior college or high school All-Americans. Four of the signees were named to their high school all-state teams and one player, Taylor Lewis, was drafted in the 19th round by the Seattle Mariners and signed with them over the summer.
