HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss used an eight run first inning to defeat cross-town William Carey 10-0 Sunday afternoon at Pete Taylor Park.
“I thought it was a good first game for us, it really game me an idea where this team is at right now,” head coach Corky Palmer said. “I thought we played tremendous defense and pitched very well today.”

Southern Miss used seven different pitchers to limit the Crusaders to seven hits in the 12 inning exibition. Todd McInnis and Moses Munoz were both perfect in their two innings, while Scott Copeland and Wade Weathers faced the minimum hitters in their two innings of work.
