Fullerton, Calif. – Goodwin Field is getting a facelift over the holiday break.

Renovations to the home of the four-time national champions began on Tuesday, most noticeably in and around the infield. Titan Ring of Honor member, and former player and assistant coach Mike “Toad” Wilson and his crew, are giving the infield a much-needed make-over including a laser-grade and new infield dirt and turf.

In foul territory, between the dugouts and home plate area, the natural grass has been dug out and is being prepped for state-of-the-art synthetic grass that will resist the typical wear-and-tear that commonly occurs around the home plate area.

Before the break is over, Goodwin Field will also be receiving a new “no-dust” Hilltopper warning track dirt, like you would see at down the road at Angel Stadium, new rubberized chain linked fencing in and around the bullpen areas as well as anti-slip floor covering in both the home and visiting dugouts.

Out of the spectator’s view, both the tunnel leading to the Titan locker room, and the locker room itself, are receiving a deep cleaning and a fresh coat of paint as is the Doubek VIP Room. When complete, the VIP Room will feature new tile flooring, new lighting features, new windows on the “garage doors” as well fresh artworks and a large flat panel television.

The Titans open up the 2009 season at home against TCU on Feb. 20, 2009.
