Lincoln Hamilton of Project Prospect has a great article looking at the top hitters eligibile for the 2009 draft. He looked at the Collegiate Stats of players eligible for the 2009 draft and based on a formula has ranked the top 50 players in the country. He believes that Josh Phegley of Indiana has the best chance to make it to the Majors with AJ Pollock of Notre Dame right behind him. The full article with a better explanation of his formula is available by clicking here.

Great article, Brian. Thanks for finding…and posting!
Phegley is a stud.
I just hope he translates to the next level.
I hope his swing isnt too long and loopy and i hope he can stay at catcher.
Phegley will be close to my top 10.
I just don’t like Phegley’s stance and don’t know if he can stay at catcher at the next level. Just wasn’t a standout player in my mind when I saw him play.
Brian, obviously you haven’t really seen Phegley play…I believe his stats and some video footage will change your mind. Check out the Big Ten Network…
and don’t just look at his college stats…check out the history of this player.
