Shofner and Hall Earn Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas—Caleb Shofner (Texas A&M) and Shaeffer Hall (Kansas) have been selected as the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week for games of Feb. 16-22 in voting by a panel of media covering the conference. It is the first conference weekly accolade for both student-athletes.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Caleb, Shofner, Texas A&M, 3B, So., 6-0. 185,Hewitt, Texas/Midway HS

Shofner, in his first career starts, hit .900 on the week with a triple, home run, five RBI and 11 runs scored in four Aggie victories against Wright State. The Hewitt, Texas native reached base safely in 15 of 16 plate appearances, including two walks and four hit by pitches. Shofner finished the weekend with hits in his last five at-bats, scoring four of those times. He also was a perfect 6-for-6 on defensive chances.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Shaeffer Hall, Kansas, LHP, Jr., 6-2, 200, Lee’s Summit, Mo./Jefferson College

Hall posted the fifth complete game no-hitter in Kansas history, defeating Air Force 5-0 on Friday. He registered seven strikeouts while throwing 106 pitches, allowing just four base runners (three walks and one hit baseman). The Lee’s Summit, Mo.-lefty became the first Jayhawk pitcher to a throw a no-hitter since David Hicks in 1980 and seventh overall (two were combined no-hitters).
