It was a breakout week for Tulane senior OF Drew Allain and he rewarded for his strong efforts at the plate by being named the Conference USA Hitter of the Week. The Pitcher of the Week award went to East Carolina sophomore RHP Seth Maness who earned a win over No. 3 Rice with a career-best performance.

Allain batted .625 (10-for-16) on the week, with three multiple hit performances, including a 4-for-5 outing against UCF on Saturday, on the strength of a double and home run, while picking up two RBI. Allain entered the week with a .241 average and raised it 64 points to .305 after the four-game stretch, while also posting an .875 slugging percentage for the week. Allain reached base on 12 of his 18 plate appearances during the week, raising his on-base percentage to .400, which was up 52 points after the four-game span. Allain’s clutch two-out, two-RBI single in Sunday’s game against UCF gave the Green Wave a 3-2 lead in a victory that gave Tulane the series victory on the road.

Maness tossed the first complete game of his career against No. 3 Rice in a 4-1 win on Saturday. The Preseason C-USA Pitcher of the Year threw exactly 100 pitches, allowing one unearned run on three hits. Maness fanned a season-high eight Owls, while issuing just one walk. At one point, Maness retired 12 consecutive hitters from the fifth (2nd out) to ninth (1st out), retiring 23 of the last 25 batters he faced. He struck out at least one hitter in six-of-nine innings and had two punch outs in the first and ninth frames. In all, Maness faced 33 batters allowing a walk, three singles while one batter reached on an error.
