DAYTON, Ohio – The defending Atlantic 10 regular season champion Dayton Flyers have released their 2010 baseball schedule, which includes matchups against a pair of ACC opponents, as well as a number of games against regional rivals.
"Our 2010 Schedule is highlighted with quality teams that will allow us to prepare for our Atlantic 10 schedule," said head coach Tony Vittorio. "We are excited and looking forward to the competition."
The schedule includes games against Horizon League tournament winners Wright State and Bowling Green, who captured the 2009 regular season MAC title.
UD looks to build on its record-breaking season in 2009, when the Brown Street Bombers broke single-season records in home runs, batting average, doubles, hits, RBI and strikeouts.
The Flyers will open up the season on the road at Wake Forest on Feb. 19 before traveling to Spartansburg, S.C. in the final week of February for one game against South Carolina Upstate and two games against Wofford. Dayton will also face ACC member Clemson in a one-game duel.
UD returns to the Austin Peay State Tournament after a one-year hiatus. Dayton faces SIU Edwardsville, Wisconsin-Milwaukee and tournament host Austin Peay in a three-game round robin tournament.
Fans have a number of opportunities to see the 2010 squad at Time Warner Cable Stadium. The Flyers open their home slate, hosting the Dayton Classic Tournament with a field comprised of Wright State, Indiana State and Oakland. Wright State advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2009 after winning the Horizon League Tournament.
UD remains at home to host Butler, Canisius, Toledo and Cincinnati through the most of March before beginning their A-10 title defense on the road at La Salle.
Notable A-10 contests include home series’ against arch-rival Xavier and Fordham and road trips to Charlotte and Temple in April.
Dayton will wrap up the season playing 14 of its last 18 games in the friendly confines of TWC Stadium.
The season will culminated at the A-10 Tournament hosted in Camden, N.J., just across the Delaware River from Philadelphia on May 26.
