Washington set to hire Meggs

Share

Meggs According to Kendall Rogers of Rivals.com (FULL REPORT), Washington is set to hire Indiana State head coach Lindsay Meggs. He has been the head coach of the Sycamores for the past three seasons. He had his best season in 2009 while going 33-21 overall and 15-7 in Missouri Valley Conference play. Before heading to Terre Haute, he spent the previous 13 seasons with Division 2 power California-State Chico where he won two national championships while compiling a 538-228-4 record.

I think this is a great hire for Washington as Meggs has some great connections on the west coast and has been able to bring California kids into the Indiana State program in the past three seasons. He also tends to recruit junior college kids that might be overlooked so expect him to turn around the Husky program quickly if he is going to last.

What do you think of the hire?

I think it’s an excellent hire. For all the reasons stated, especially the recruiting of junior college kids. I don’t mean this to sound disrespectful, but they would be a great talent pool who wouldn’t necessarily expect to play in an Alex Box-type stadium. So perhaps? the current state of the baseball facilities wouldn’t be that hard an obstacle to overcome. If he’s the leader he appears to be from his record, I think Washington made the right choice.
