TimBrownGW WASHINGTON, DC – George Washington Head Baseball Coach Steve Mrowka has announced the addition of Tim Brown as an assistant coach. Brown spent the 2009 season as a volunteer assistant coach in his first year with the Colonials staff.

"The hiring of Tim Brown allows us to maintain some continuity in the coaching of our pitchers," said Mrowka. "Last season, Tim was our volunteer pitching coach and he did an excellent job in that role. I fully expect him to excel as the full-time pitching coach. His commitment to GW and outstanding work ethic will be a nice asset in our recruiting efforts as well."

Before coming to Foggy Bottom, Brown was an assistant coach at Mount St. Mary’s, a member of the Northeastern Conference. His primary duties at Mount St. Mary’s were to work with the pitchers. Three players he coached sign contracts with professional baseball teams, including two with MLB clubs. These include Ivor Hodgson, who was the 2007 17th round selection of the Kansas City Royals and Dustin Pease, who signed with the Winnipeg Goldeneyes of the Northern League.

Prior to working at Mount St. Mary’s, Brown was the coach of the McLean Raiders of the Clark Griffith Collegiate Baseball League. He also was an assistant coach at Coppin State University and Siena College. While at Siena, he coached John Lannan, who was selected in the 15th round by the Washington Nationals and Lannan is a starting pitcher for the Nationals.

Brown has playing experience from Indian Hills Community College, Southeastern Community College, and Lindenwood University of the NAIA.
