Pacific releases 2010 Schedule

PacificPhoto Stockton, Calif. – Head coach Ed Sprague has unveiled the 2010 Pacific baseball schedule, set to begin with a home series against San Francisco on Friday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. at Klein Family Field.

This season the Tigers will host 29 contests at home and hit the road for 26. New to the 2010 schedule include match-ups against Seattle, Notre Dame, Bradley, USC and Santa Clara.

During Spring Break, from Mar. 11-14, Pacific will head down to San Antonio, Texas, for Notre Dame’s Irish Baseball Classic. In that tournament, Pacific sets out against Gonzaga (Mar. 11), host Notre Dame (Mar. 12) and Bradley (Mar. 13), with the championship and consolation contest to be held on Sunday, Mar. 14.

The Tigers will host their only double header this season on Saturday, Mar. 6, during the second day of Pacific’s three-day series against Seattle. The Redhawks come to Klein Family Field for a 6 p.m. first pitch on Friday, Mar. 5, followed by a 2 p.m./6 p.m. double header on Saturday, Mar. 6. The series wraps up on Sunday, Mar. 7 at 1 p.m.

During the 2010 season, the Tigers will see a healthy dose of Pacific-10 Conference opponents, kicking off when they travel to Stanford on Tuesday, Feb. 23 for a 5:30 p.m. start time. In the follow month, the Tigers will host USC for three games beginning on Friday, Mar. 19 at 6 p.m. Immediately after the Trojan series, Pacific hosts Stanford for a mid-week game on Tuesday, Mar. 23 at 6 p.m. One month later the Tigers will head out to Berkeley, Calif., when they take on California at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20 and then return the favor by hosting the Golden Bears for the final mid-week game of 2010 on Tuesday, May 25.

Conference play begins on the road for the Tigers, when they take on Long Beach State from Thursday, April 1-3. In competitive Big West Conference action, Pacific hosts series against UC Riverside, Cal State Northridge, Cal State Fullerton and UC Santa Barbara from Klein Family Field.

The Tigers will spend the majority of the month of May on the road when they travel to three universities for a total of nine games. Pacific will head to UC Davis for a three-game series beginning on Friday, May 7, then go down the Central Valley for a non-conference match-up against Cal State Bakersfield beginning Friday, May 14. Pacific concludes its three-series road trip back in Big West play at Cal Poly on Friday, May 21 before returning back home for the final four games of the 2010 schedule.

For the second-straight season, the Tigers will don their camo jerseys in honor of Salute to the Troops at all Sunday home games. In 2010, Pacific will host eight Sunday contests beginning with Nevada on Sunday, Feb. 28, with a 1 p.m. scheduled first pitch.

For post-season play, the NCAA Regionals run from Friday, June 4 to Sunday, June 6. Followed by the Super Regionals at dates to be determined, and then the College World Series in Omaha, Neb., kicks off on Friday, June 18.
