Two McKinney Marshals relievers allowed only one hit over 6 and 2/3 innings, and Riley Cooper (Florida) hit a two-run home run as the Marshals edged the Generals 4-2 Friday night in Victoria.

McKinney Marshals 1 Brazos Valley Bombers 0
Bryan-College Station, TX (July 2, 2009) –
The Brazos Valley Bombers came out on the short end of the stick tonight, as they fell to the McKinney Marshals 1-0. Brett Parsons’ TCL Record 15 game hit streak came to an end as the Bombers were only able to manage three hits.

McKinney Marshals 4 Brazos Valley Bombers 2
Thomas Rooke (Kansas State) held the Bombers bats in check for over five innings and Curt Restko (Eastern Illinois) hit his first home run of the season as the Marshals ended a seven game losing streak by beating Brazos Valley 4-2 in College Station Wednesday night.

In the second day of action at the Austin (Tx) Regional, the elimination game featured a matchup between Army from the Patriot League and Texas State of the Southland Conference. The first game saw Boston College as the 3 seed take on the 2 seed Texas State. Texas State built a 5-2 lead going into the top of the 9th inning. But, Boston College comes storming back to take a 8-5 lead in the top of the 9th. Texas State Paul Goldschmidt delivered a two run Home Run to cut the Eagles lead to 8-7 in the bottom of the inning but were not able to get closer.

Ole Miss will be hosting the Oxford Regional with Missouri (Big 12) as the two seed, Western Kentucky (Sun Belt) as the 3rd seed, and the 4th seed Monmouth (Northeast Conference). Ole Miss was tied for first in the SEC West. While Missouri finish third in the Big 12 and lost to Texas in the Big 12 Tournament Championship game.Western Kentucky was tied for first in the Sun Belt but lost in the semifinal of the Sun Belt Tournament. Monmouth finish fourth in the Northeast Conference but won that Conference Tournament. The winner of the Oxford Regional will be paired up with the winner of the Irvine Regional. Texas will be hosting the regional at the newly refurbish UFCU-Disch Falk Field. The last time Texas held a regional at the friendly confines was back in 2006 and Texas will be looking to get back on track in this regional. Joining Texas will be the the two seed Texas State, which is from the Southland Conference where they won the regular season title but lost in the Championship game to Sam Houston State. The three seed will be Boston College who is making their first appearance in the NCAA Tourney in 42 years. They finished the regular season 3rd in the ACC’s Atlantic Division. The 4th seed comes from the Patriot League with the Army Black Knights. They won the Patriot League tournament in a two game sweep over Lafayette to earn the automatic bid. (Victoria, Tx) The Victoria Generals of the Texas Collegiate League are excited to have Willie Kempf in their rotation for the summer. Willie was the 2009 Captain for The Baylor Bears. Last summer he was named to the Cape Cod League all-star squad. This spring Willie was the number 2 pitcher for the Bears with a 4-3 record and a 5.62 era. He struck out 45 in 41 innings while walking only 22.
Willie is a 6 foot 185 pound right handed pitcher who has just completed his junior year. Five times he has been named to the Big 12 Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Read the rest of this entry »

Texas 9 Kansas 3
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The No. 5 Texas Longhorns turned a complete-game effort by Chance Ruffin into a 9-3 win over Kansas Jayhawks in round robin action at the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark on Thursday afternoon.
With the win, Texas moved to 1-1 in round robin action and Kansas fell to 0-2. Texas needs a win by Kansas State over Baylor on Thursday evening and a UT win over Kansas State on Saturday to advance to Sunday’s title game.

 Ryan Collins helped stave off a Northwestern State rally to keep the Lions alive on Thursday.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Lions jumped out to a big lead with seven runs in the first two innings, but it was the bullpen that came up big on Thursday for the Southeastern Louisiana baseball team (36-21, 22-13 Southland Conference) as the Lions held off a rally by the Northwestern State Demons (26-26, 18-15 SLC) to advance to day three of the 2009 Southland Conference Baseball Tournament with a 9-7 win on Wednesday morning.
