MANSFIELD Conn.- The first three innings of the opening game of day two of the Division III New England Regional saw fifth seeded Suffolk match top seeded Eastern Connecticut run for run and the teams were tied 2-2 entering the fourth.
The Warriors pushed across two in top of the fourth to go ahead 4-2 and the Rams were poised to respond in turn during the bottom of the inning.

ShareMANSFIELD Conn.- Powerful Southern Maine and sophomore Mike Eaton took a while to wake out of their slumber, but when they did, the Huskies walked off winners in the opening round on the New England Regional.

Share MANSFIELD CONN.- While the first NCAA regional game between WPI and Suffolk went down to the wire, the second game of the day between Babson and Eastern Connecticut was decided early thanks to a barrage of hits by the Beavers and a 158 pitch, ten strikeout complete game by sophomore Andrew Aizenhadt.
Eighth seeded Babson took a 2-0 lead in the first but blew the game open in the second with seven runs against the top seeded Warriors and held on for a 10-6 win. Read the rest of this entry »

Share MANSFIELD CONN.- The opening game of the Division III New England regional began with a dominating pitching performance by WPI senior Conor Fahey that appeared to put the Engineers in line for an easy win. Share With two weekends left, the playoff picture hasn’t become any clearer in the Colonial. No. 27 George Mason clinched the top seed in the conference with a sweep of Northeastern last weekend. The Patriots, along with third place James Madison, are off this weekend. Here’s a glance at the other teams in action.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released the Pro-Line Athletic National Player of the Week awards for the period ending April 26, today. UCF junior second baseman Shane Brown and South Dakota State sophomore infielder Jesse Sawyer were named National Co-Hitters of the Week, while Northeastern sophomore left-handed pitcher J.T. Ross was named National Pitcher of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season. CAMBRIDGE MASS- After a seven run first inning, Northeastern appeared well on its away to securing a midweek non conference win over Harvard and sweeping the brief two game season series between the two.
Three hours later, that was far from the case.
Harvard clawed away at the deficit before a ten run seventh inning catapulted them past the Huskies to a 16-13 win in a wild game that saw the two teams combine to use 34 players, issue 14 walks, ten wild pitches, and hit five batters. Henderson batted .640 (16-25) with a homer, five doubles, six RBI and eight runs scored in Mason’s 4-1 week. The junior catcher hit .733 (11-15) in a three-game sweep of Hofstra, while driving in and scoring five. Henderson leads the CAA with a .436 average.

ShareBROOKLINE MASS- After Northeastern’s 6-5 victory over VCU Sunday, Frank Compagnone couldn’t hide his desire to make NU’s first CAA tournament since 2006.
It sure showed on the field.
The junior doubled home redshirt freshman Matt Miller in the seventh to break a 4-4 tie and then made a diving catch in left field, going to his right to rob VCU sophomore Joe Van Meter of extra bases with the tying run on first in the ninth. Read the rest of this entry »
