Nathan Moreau earned the victory for the Bulldogs, improving to 4-2 on the season. The Lipscomb Bisons completed their season with a 33-30 record. Georgia Tech (41-19) will play either Lipscomb or regional host Georgia (those two teams play Sunday at 2 p.m.) Sunday at 6 p.m. A win Sunday night would send the Yellow Jackets to a Super Regional next week. ATHENS, Ga. — Freshman Deck McGuire pitched 7 strong innings for the Yellow Jackets, giving up just 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 9, to help Georgia Tech (34-14) to an 11-1 road victory over in-state rival Georgia (31-16-1). McGuire improved his record to 8-0 on the season as the Yellow Jackets remain undefeated in midweek games.
ATLANTA, Ga. — Despite having the week off for final exams, the Yellow Jackets (32-13) were able to continue their hot hitting in a 10-6 victory over Coastal Carolina (36-10). Thomas Nichols, Charlie Blackmon, Jeff Rowland, and Jason Haniger each hit a home run off Coastal Carolina starter Bobby Gagg. Haniger, who led the team with 3 RBI, later hit a clutch 8th inning 2-run single to seal the victory for Georgia Tech.
ATLANTA, Ga. — Georgia Tech took an early 2-0 lead off an RBI single from Derek Dietrich and a solo home run from Tony Plagman, but Miami’s offense proved to be too powerful for the Yellow Jackets as Miami came back to win 9-3. Hurricanes first baseman Yonder Alonso went 3-for-4 on the day with a home run and 2 RBI. Center fielder Blake Tekotte continued his hot streak, going 2-for-5 today and 9-for-15 on the series.
