HAVANA, Cuba – The University of Alabama baseball team had its most productive offensive performance in the final game against the Cuban Collegiate All-Stars in the Friendship Tournament Thursday afternoon, but saw its four-run lead erased by Cuba’s six-run sixth inning as the home team took the series final 7-5 at Latin American Stadium in Havana.

HAVANA, Cuba – The Cuban Collegiate All-Stars used a three-run third inning to defeat the University of Alabama baseball team, 6-2, in game two of the 2008 Friendship Tournament at Latin American Stadium Wednesday afternoon in Havana, Cuba. HAVANA, Cuba – University of Alabama baseball senior Kent Matthes had two hits, including a two-run home run, and the Crimson Tide got some excellent relief pitching and late-inning defense to throw out the winning run at the plate in the bottom ninth inning to preserve a 3-3 tie with the Cuban Collegiate All-Stars in game one of this historic “Friendship Tournament” at the Stadium of Latin America in Havana, Cuba Tuesday afternoon.

The Purple team took Game 1 of the Black/Purple World Series behind the arm of Jamie Serber who tossed six solid innings allowing just one earned run. Stockton, Calif. – In the final game of the 2008 Orange and Black World Series, the Orange Tigers gave themselves a tally in the win column with an 8-4 victory over their Black Tiger counterparts on Nov. 21.

Stockton, Calif. – In the second-consecutive day of Pacific Baseball’s Orange and Black World Series, the Black Tigers secured the series after topping the Orange Tigers 10-4 on Nov. 20.
The 2008 Orange and Black World Series consists of three games from Nov. 19-21, to mark the end of fall play in 2008.
Junior Jamie Niley (Elk Grove, Calif.) took the mound for the Black team, and helped keep Orange down early on.

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati baseball team kicked off its annual Red/Black World Series Wednesday evening with the Black Team defeating the Red Team in extra innings, 5-2. Freshman T.J. Jones (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) went 2-for-4 from the plate, including a two-out, two-RBI triple in the eighth inning to secure the win for the Black squad.
Senior Michael Hill (Proctorville, Ohio/Fairland) got the start for the Black Team, while junior Andrew Burkett (Crystal Lake, Ill./Cary-Grove/Elgin CC) toed the rubber for the Red Team. Hill and Burkett each went 3.0 innings, giving up just one hit apiece, but the lone hit given up by Hill was a second-inning solo home run by junior Jim Jacquot (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East/Southwestern Illinois College) that placed the Red Team in front, 1-0.

The ‘Prothro Persicks’ swept the baseball fall world series two games to none this past weekend, winning game one 9-3 and taking game two by a score of 1-0.
Friday evening in game one, the ‘Newman Masters’ quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead before the ‘Prothro Persicks’ responded with three runs in the second to take the lead. The squad added to the lead with two in the third and two more in the fourth.
