COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team will begin the 2010 season playing 18 of its first 21 games in the state of Florida with the other three being played in Knoxville, Tenn., head coach Bob Todd announced Thursday.
The Buckeyes, the defending Big Ten Conference champion who started 18-3 last year with the first 21 games played in Florida, open up their season Feb. 19-21 with three games in Jacksonville against North Florida, Florida A&M and Richmond before taking part in the second-annual Big Ten/Big East Challenge Feb. 26-28 in Clearwater/St. Petersburg. The 10 team, 30-game event pits the Buckeyes against South Florida, Notre Dame and in-state foe Cincinnati. Ohio State defeated the Fighting Irish and Bearcats in the inaugural Big Ten/Big East challenge last season.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana baseball team has released its 2010 schedule, head coach Tracy Smith announced today. The Hoosiers, who open the season in San Diego, will play at least 12 games against teams that participated in the 2009 NCAA Tournament.
"We’re looking forward to what should be a challenging schedule in 2010," Smith said. "It will be a good experience for our Southern California kids to open the season in San Diego where a lot of them are from, and with the second year of the Big Ten/BIG EAST Challenge and the Vanderbilt Tournament, we should face some strong early-season competition which will prepare us for the Big Ten."

Share Baseball America has put out their incoming 2010 Recruiting Class Rankings which are led by the University of Florida. Stanford comes in at the runner up spot with Arizona State, TCU, and Cal-State Fullerton completing the Top 5.

Share Rivals.com College Baseball editor Kendall Rogers has put out an article detailing five programs that are rising in prestige and five that are starting to fall off the map. The programs that he sees coming on are: TCU, Virginia, East Carolina, Kansas and Ohio State. The five programs that are starting to fall are: Arizona, Baylor, Tulane, Nebraska, and California. He has some interesting commentary on each team as I can see his reasoning on all the programs except for one in Baylor.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team’s Scarlet and Gray World Series is upon us. Starting Friday, Oct. 9 at 3 p.m. at Bill Davis Stadium and continuing Monday, Oct. 12 at 3 p.m. and Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m., two teams of Buckeyes will battle for fall ball supremacy in the annual event. Admission is free to all three games.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana baseball team has added Dustin Coffman as a volunteer assistant coach, head coach Tracy Smith announced today. Coffman, who is a former student manager for the Hoosiers, assists in the strength training for the Hoosiers in addition to serving as the team’s first base coach.
"Dustin has demonstrated his passion and commitment to the IU baseball program the past two years as a student manager," Smith said. "Dustin is a baseball guy with a background in strength training which is an asset to our team."

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue baseball program has added a pair of coaches to its staff, head coach Doug Schreiber announced. Jeff Duncan and Bobby Bartow have joined the staff to replace departed coaches Spencer Allen and Chadd Blasko.
"We’re very fortunate to have Jeff and Bobby join our program," Schreiber said. "They bring great energy to our team and have the extensive playing and coaching experience that will help us on the field and with recruiting."

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – University of Illinois head baseball coach Dan Hartleb announced Tuesday that junior left-handed pitcher Phil Haig has been dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules.
“We place great emphasis on conducting yourself in a way that represents our team and the university in a positive way and Phil did not fulfill his responsibilities,” Hartleb said. “We will move forward as a team in our preparation for the 2010 season.”
