WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue baseball program has added a pair of coaches to its staff, head coach Doug Schreiber announced. Jeff Duncan and Bobby Bartow have joined the staff to replace departed coaches Spencer Allen and Chadd Blasko.
"We’re very fortunate to have Jeff and Bobby join our program," Schreiber said. "They bring great energy to our team and have the extensive playing and coaching experience that will help us on the field and with recruiting."

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – University of Illinois head baseball coach Dan Hartleb announced Tuesday that junior left-handed pitcher Phil Haig has been dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules.
“We place great emphasis on conducting yourself in a way that represents our team and the university in a positive way and Phil did not fulfill his responsibilities,” Hartleb said. “We will move forward as a team in our preparation for the 2010 season.”

IOWA CITY, IA – University of Iowa Head Baseball Coach Jack Dahm announced that Zach Dillon will serve as the team’s volunteer coach. Dillon, a native of Urbandale, IA, attended Baylor University and was subsequently selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 20th Round (595th overall) of the 2006 amateur entry draft as a catcher. His honors include 2005 ABCA second team all-Midwest Region selection, 2005 first team all-Big 12 Conference honoree and a nine time Big 12 Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll recipient. Dillon will work with the catchers, assist with hitters and take over as camp coordinator.

Share Baseball America recently put out their Top 25 College Baseball and High School Prospects for the 2010 MLB Draft. The college rankings are led by Bryce Harper who has received national attention for skipping his final two years of high school to play college baseball with Community College of Southern Nevada. The rest of the top five is Anthony Ranaudo from LSU, Deck McGuire from Ga Tech, Levon Washington from Chipola JC, and Chris Sale from Florida Gulf Coast. The rest of the top 25 is available below.

FULL 2010 SCHEDULE
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — University of Michigan head baseball coach Rich Maloney announced Thursday (Sept. 17) a 55-game 2010 schedule, which stacks up among the most challenging in his eight-year tenure with the Wolverines. The slate features six NCAA tournament qualifiers from a year ago.

The University of Iowa baseball team welcomes several new faces this fall including Mike Corbeil, Kevin Gates and Kurt Lee.
Corbeil, a Chesterfield, MO, native, is an incoming freshman infielder. He was a two-time all-state, all-district and all-conference selection his two years on the Marquette High School varsity squad. Corbeil’s senior season he hit .453 with four home runs and 37 RBI. In his career at Marquette he set the career RBI record, with 54. Corbeil was part of the 2008 Suburban West Conference Championship team and partook in the Junior Sunbelt Games.

PETERSBURG, FL – The schedule has been finalized and two state‐of‐the‐art major league venues have been added to the 2010 Big Ten/BIG EAST Baseball Challenge, hosted by the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission, event manager API Sports announced today. Doubleheaders at Dunedin Stadium and Bright House Field highlight a slate that features 30 games over three days, Feb. 26‐28, 2010, at current and former big league facilities in the St. Petersburg and Clearwater, Fla., area.

Share The Washington Huskies and Louisville Cardinals have started up Fall Practice for the 2010 season.
Washington starts Fall Practice
SEATTLE – The Washington baseball team opened its fall practice season today. The Huskies, under first-year head coach Lindsay Meggs, will spend the next four weeks on the field at Husky Ballpark in preparation for the 2010 season.
The first day of school at the UW isn’t until Sept. 30, so until that day, the Diamond Dawgs will hold two-a-day practices most days. After school starts, practices will be held once a day with the fall season wrapping up with the Alumni Game on Sunday, Oct. 11.

Share Jeff Duncan has left his position as a volunteer assistant coach at Auburn for an assistant position with the Purdue Boilermakers. Duncan spent the last school year with the Tigers coaching the outfielders and helping out with the hitters. Outfielder Trent Mummey won the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove while the team hit a school record 103 homers.
This is an interesting move as Purdue is looking to turn around the program after going 25-26 overall and 11-12 in the Big Ten which saw them finish in sixth place in the conference.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State head baseball coach Bob Todd today announced the signing of four student-athletes to national letters of intent. The four, all of them freshmen, are RHP Cole Brown, outfielder Hunter Mayfield, RHP Brett McKinney and catcher Steel Russell.
Brown and Mayfield are both from Tallahassee, Fla., and were teammates at Lawton Chiles High School. McKinney is from Hamilton, Ohio and attended Badin High School. Steel is from the Philadelphia suburb of Wyndmoor, Pa., where he attended Chestnut Hill Academy.
