WrightStateFallBall DAYTON, Ohio – The Wright State baseball team will look to close the fall out with another classic series, as the Green squad will challenge the Gold team at the annual Green versus Gold series. The series will kick off on Friday evening at 6:00 and continue with games on Saturday and Sunday at Nischwitz Stadium with the first preview of the 2010 squad that will look to defend its 2009 Horizon League Championship.

Gaedele-WSU-19 The CBB starts the countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We start the list today with Valparaiso University sophomore Kyle Gaedele. He is a 6’4 220 pound outfielder out of Arlington Heights Illinois and from Rolling Meadows High School. He was a three year letterwinner in high school where he was selected in the 32nd round by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2008.

ValpoCelebration-Butler228 Valparaiso University coach Tracy Woodson has released the 2010 baseball schedule, which has the Crusaders playing 20 home games at Emory G. Bauer Field in addition to three games at the U.S. Steel Yard in Gary, Ind.

Valpo will face a pair of Big Ten foes in Indiana (Apr. 13) and Northwestern (May 4) at the U.S. Steel Yard in addition to an April 28 game against Notre Dame.  The Crusaders will also be hosting the Horizon League Championships at the home of the Gary SouthShore RailCats May 26-30 this season.

wsu_thumb The Wright State Raiders enjoyed a successful 2009 season, posting a 33-30 record and earning a spot in the NCAA Tournament.  The 2010 campaign will begin with a round robin tournament at the USA Baseball Complex against Illinois-Chicago, LeMoyne, and Canisius (Feb. 19-21).  The following weekend the Raiders will visit the Clemson Tigers (Feb. 26-28) for a three game set.  Wright State will then take part in the University of Virginia Tournament against Virginia and Dartmouth (March 5-7).

youngstown Head coach Steve Farley enters his 19th season with Butler baseball as the 2010 season approaches.  Coach Farley and the Bulldogs look to improve from a very disappointing 2009 campaign that saw the team finish with a 13-41 record.

The Bulldogs will kick off the season at the Wofford College Tournament (Feb. 26-28) with games against NJIT, Wofford, and South Carolina Upstate.  Butler then returns home for a mid-week game against Indiana Tech (March 3) before travelling to Winter Haven, Florida for their Florida Spring Trip (March 5-11).

ScottDoffek MILWAUKEE – The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball team has announced the addition of five student-athletes who will compete next season for the Panthers.

Milwaukee head coach Scott Doffek stated today that Jordan Guth of Onalaska, Wis., Jim Lundstrom of Crete, Ill., Drew Pearson of Racine, Wis., Kyle Spurley of Linden, Wis., and Mark Strey of Marshfield, Wis., will all enroll at UWM and participate next season.

Guth finished up his career at Onalaska High School this season by earning Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association All-District Second Team and All-Mississippi Valley Conference Second Team honors. He went 7-1 with an ERA of 1.53, striking out 94 batters while allowing just 18 walks and 42 hits in 64 innings of work while his team went 16-11 overall. As a junior, he went 8-0 with a 1.66 ERA in nine games, leading Onalaska to a 24-4 record overall. He finished with five complete games and two shutouts. The all-conference pitcher has played in the WBCA Brewers Classic All-Star game and is also a National Honor Society member who has earned all-academic honors. A member of the 2008 Wisconsin State Baseball Legion championship team, Guth was also an all-state hockey player.

ScottDoffek MILWAUKEE – University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Athletic Director George Koonce has announced that head baseball coach Scott Doffek has signed a new three-year contract.

Doffek just concluded his third season as the head coach of the Panthers. He was named the seventh head baseball coach in school history on Sept. 25, 2006.

"I am pleased that we have been able to agree with Scott Doffek on a new three-year contract," Koonce said. "Scott has given many great years of service to our department and university, and has led our baseball program to tremendous success. We look forward to having Scott with us for many years to come."

(PRINCE GEORGE, British Columbia) – Christian Colon (Cal State Fullerton) and Yasmani Grandal (Miami) hit a home run each and Team USA opened the 2009 Enbridge Northern Pipeline World Baseball Challenge with a 5-2 victory over Canada at Citizen Stadium.

Christian Colon (Cal State Fullerton) hit a solo home run over the wall in left field in the first inning to put the U.S. up front early, 1-0.
