DALLAS, Texas - The TCU Horned Frogs scored six unanswered runs to erase an early 4-0 deficit to defeat the Dallas Baptist Patriots Monday night at Patriot Field. The victory is the fourth straight for the Frogs and the 13th in the month of April. With the win, TCU swept the three-game series with Dallas Baptist this season. SAN MARCOS – Ben Theriot blasted a solo home run to open the game for the Texas State Bobcats, aiding an 11-7 victory over Texas-Pan American Tuesday night at Bobcat Field. The team improves to 19-14 with the win and will look to sweep the series tomorrow at 6 p.m.

The North Dakota State Bison threw a seven inning no-hitter against Creighton on Wednesday but lost the game 2-0. NDSU starter Chris Berg started the game by walking four out of the first six hitters by walking in a run and hitting a batter to let the Blue Jays get a 2-0 lead. He would walk the first batter in the second inning before being replaced by Chris Paterson. The Bluejays would load the bases in the third inning but Paterson was able to get out of the jam. FRISCO, Texas - Trailing 2-0 heading into the seventh inning, the TCU Horned Frog offense came to life, scoring 20 runs in the final three innings to come away with a 20-3 win over Dallas Baptist Monday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco. Bryan Kervin was the offensive star driving home three runs with four hits. Ben Carruthers also drove in five with two hits. Gerrish pitched seven strong innings for the Frogs to earn the victory. Arizona State’s 19-game winning streak to start the season came to an end with a 6-3 loss to Northern Colorado Friday night in the Bob Schaefer Memorial Tournament. The loss drops Arizona State to 19-1 on the year, ending the longest winning streak to begin a season since 1961.
The Sun Devils struck out 10 times and stranded 13 runners in the game, including loading the bases in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings but coming away with no runs. Read the rest of this entry »

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - University of Alabama senior first baseman Matt Bentley slammed two home runs, including a solo blast in the fifth inning that gave the Crimson Tide the lead for good, in a 9-5 win over the Samford Bulldogs Wednesday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
Bentley went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in leading the Crimson Tide to its sixth straight win. Bentley gave the Tide the lead for good with a two-out, solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning off losing pitcher Michael Jarry. TAMPA, Fla. – The University of South Florida baseball team fell, 5-4, Tuesday night to the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles at Red McEwen Field.
The Bulls’ record drops to 3-4, while the Eagles improve to 8-1.
USF’s offensive attack came in the first two innings after falling behind by two after the top of the first. Redshirt freshman Ryan Lockwood spearheaded the Bulls’ offensive charge with a lead-off walk. Junior counterparts Brandon Smith and Addison Maruszak followed with a walk and a hit by pitch to fill the bases. MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Sophomore Nick McCully (Lakeland, Fla./Santa Fe Catholic) allowed just a bunt single in the first inning while striking out nine in the Coastal Carolina University baseball team’s (8-1) 6-0 win over George Mason (1-6) March 2 in the final game of the Baseball at the Beach Tournament at BB&T Coastal Field.

The University of Texas had three newcomers combine to allow just three hits as the Longhorns posted a 5-0 shutout against UTPA in collegiate baseball action Wednesday afternoon at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
Chance Ruffin (1-0) earned the victory as the designated starter, yielding three hits and one walk while striking out four over three innings. Casey Whitmer posted five strikeouts as he whiffed all nine batters he faced over three innings. Marcus Tackett needed just 11 pitches to close out the game with a scoreless seventh inning.

Texas’ Brandon Workman got the start today on the mound and went 6 innings throwing 89 pitches and striking out 11 Broncs in picking up his first win as a Longhorn. Leading the way for the Horns offensively is Brandon Belt going for 2-4 and driving in 4 rbis. The starting Pitcher for the Broncs was Phillip Rodriquez. Phillip had the Horns handcuff through the first 4 innings in striking out 4 and the Horns batters guessing. After Phillip went out the bullpen could find the strike zone as they issue 8 walks and 3 hits bats man. Texas turn a 2-1 deficit in the 5 inning into a 10-3 win. These two teams will get right back out there tomorrow afternoon at 2:30. On the mound for Texas will be another Freshman Chance Ruffin and on the mound for the Broncs will be TBD.
