PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Head coach Will Gardner and the UMES baseball team announced the dates for the Hawks’ annual Maroon-Grey World Series Tuesday.
The series is slated to begin Nov. 6 and run through Nov. 13. The best-of-seven event is designed to cap off the non-traditional workout period for UMES. The members of each side are chosen by team captains.

Share The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today with number 81 in our countdown with sophomore LHP Ali Simpson. He is a 6-3 lefty out of Campbell River, British Columbia and attended Carihi Secondary High School. He had a solid high school career as he had 1.21 ERA in 79 innings pitched.

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Department of Athletics along with head baseball coach Dan Spencer announced the creation of the Brooks Wallace Memorial Classic, an annual college baseball tournament that will be held at Dan Law Field beginning in 2010.
"This is an exciting opportunity for our program as we get to honor the memory of a really great person and baseball player in Brooks Wallace," said Spencer. "The College Baseball Foundation has made him a national figure in our sport in terms of the Wallace Award and we felt that it was time for our program to do something to honor his memory. Brooks was a Red Raider and we are very proud of that."

Share Bethune-Cookman has released its tentative 2010 schedule. BCU will begin the campaign by taking part in the MLB Urban Classic Tournament (Feb. 19-21) with games against UCLA, Loyola Marymount, and Southern. From there, the team will travel to Jacksonville (Feb. 23) for a mid-week contest before visiting Lubbock, Texas, for a double round robin tournament with Texas Tech and Washington State (Feb. 26-28).
BCU will then face off against Stetson (March 2) and Jacksonville (March 3) at home before heading to Troy (March 5-7) for a weekend series. Before opening conference play at Florida A&M (March 20-21), Bethune-Cookman will have home games against Wagner (March 9-10, March 12), USF (March 14), VCU (March 14), and Stetson (March 16).

Share The Coppin State Eagles have released their 2010 baseball schedule. The Eagles will begin the season with a seven game road trip with stops at Longwood (Feb. 19-20), George Washington (Feb. 26-27), and Navy (March 3). They will then return home for seventeen straight home contests including weekend series against Iona (March 6-7), Lehigh (March 12-13), Maryland Eastern Shore (March 27-28), and Niagara (March 30-31).

Share One would presume that a team making its record 37th straight NCAA Regional appearance and that was once ranked No. 2 in the country this season would be the favorite in its regional.
That’s not the case in this year’s NCAA Tournament for Miami (Fla.), which will need to get past Jacksonville, Bethune-Cookman and the eighth-overall seed and favorite Florida to take the Gainesville Region to advance to the Super Regionals. Read the rest of this entry »

NC State 9 UNC 4
RALEIGH, N.C. — Kyle Wilson went 3-for-3 with two home runs and Drew Poulk added a homer as NC State defeated top-ranked North Carolina 9-4 on Sunday at Doak Field at Dail Park to win the ACC weekend series against the Tar Heels.
With the win, the Wolfpack improves to 24-28 overall and 10-17 in ACC play. The loss drops the Tar Heels to 38-13 overall and 17-9 in the ACC. Read the rest of this entry »

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State left-hander Jimmy Gillheeney shut out No. 1 North Carolina over seven innings to lead the Wolfpack to a 3-0 win Friday in the series-opener at Doak Field. Florida State 9 Virginia Tech 4
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State (33-12, 18-7 ACC) continued its winning ways completing the three-game sweep of Virginia Tech with a 9-4 victory Sunday afternoon on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium. The Seminoles extended their win streak to a season-best 12 games which currently stands as the longest streak in the nation.
