The CBB is committed in bringing the very best content to the site. Today we have two schedules, Big Ten Iowa Hawkeyes and the Longwood Lancers, a Independent participant. We also have the fall schedule for Monmouth.
Iowa Hawkeyes
Iowa finished at the bottom of the Big Ten last year and will be looking to improves on those numbers in ‘09. Head Coach Jack Dahm and the Hawkeyes will kick off the 2009 campaign in the Big East/BIG Ten Challenged the weekend of the 20th of February. Iowa will face BIG Ten foe Illinois on Friday, Saturday they will square off against St John, then they will wrap it up with a contest against Georgetown on Sunday the 22nd of February.

Head Coach Scott Thomson and the Mount St. Mary’s open the 2009 campaign on the road with a trip to West Palm Beach in the Spring Trip to Florida. Games to be announced starting on March 1st running through March 7th.
Mount St. Mary’s return home to open with a single game with George Washington on March the 11. Followed with a 3 games series at home against Coppin State.

Elon 6 Mount St. Mary’s 3
CARY, N.C. - Ken Ferrer allowed just three runs over a career-best 7.2 innings pitched and Mike Melillo hit a two-run home run to lead the 29th-ranked and third-seeded Elon Phoenix to a 6-3 victory over the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers in an elimination game of the Cary Regional of the 2008 NCAA Baseball Tournament. The Phoenix upped its record to 44-17 while the Mountaineers ended their season at 21-34.

CARY, N.C. – Freshman Alex Hill went 4-for-4 and reached base five times while junior Brad Holt held Elon to six hits as UNC Wilmington topped Elon, 5-2, in the first game of the NCAA Cary Regional on Friday at the USA Baseball Complex.
The Seahawks (43-15-1), who advanced to the winner’s bracket game on Saturday at 5 p.m., picked up their school-record 43rd win and halted a brief 2-game losing skid. Elon, meanwhile, dipped to 43-18 overall and will play Saturday at 1 p.m. against the loser of the North Carolina-Mount St. Mary’s game. Read the rest of this entry »

WACO, Texas - Baylor erased a two-run deficit with a four-run fifth, and Randall Linebaugh recorded a season-high seven strikeouts as the Bears defeated Texas State 7-2 in midweek action Tuesday night at Baylor Ballpark. The Bears (29-20) improved to 20-10 at home this season; Baylor has recorded at least 20 home wins in each of Baylor Ballpark’s 10 seasons. DeLand, Fla. - Third-ranked Florida State (36-7) registered its seventh consecutive non-conference victory with a 13-3 win over Stetson (19-27) Tuesday night in front of 2,751 at Melching Field, the eighth largest crowd in stadium history. The Seminoles reached the double-digit run plateau for the fourth straight game against the Hatters outscoring Stetson 60-9 during the stretch. Gotham Baseball has put out there weekend recap for Week 9. They name Vin Avella of Wagner the Beast of the Week after going 7-14 for the week. He had a strong weekend against Fairleigh Dickinson where he hit two homers with nine RBI. CORAL GABLES, FL - Florida Atlantic right-hander Michael Obradovich struck out a season-best seven batters, allowing just three runs in eight outstanding innings and All-America candidate William Block hit two home runs in the Owls’ 6-3 win over No. 1 Miami.

Hofstra 12 Coppin State 3
Hempstead, NY- Hofstra scored three or more runs in the first three innings during which Matt Kougasian had four RBI and Nick Panzarella had three RBI as the Pride defeated Coppin State, 12-3, Wednesday afternoon. With the victory the Pride improve to 8-16 while the Eagles fall to 3-23.
Hofstra jumped out to a three-run lead in the first inning. After the first three runners reached base for the Pride, Kougasian drove a run home with a sacrifice fly for the first run. Gotham Baseball has put out their Players of the Week and Weekend Recap. They have given the Beast of the Week to Jack Murphy of Princeton for going 16-30 with nine RBI for last week. The College of New Jersey pitcher Mike Oliver was named the pitcher of the week after striking out an amassing 16 batters in a seven inning game. The Quinnipiac Bobcats heading north to take on the Holy Cross Crusaders in a single game on Saturday. The Bobcats were able to pick up a 7-3 victory at Fitton Field behind strong pitching from Andy Mayer and Chris Gloor. John Delaney led them at the plate by going 3-5 with a long home run that ended up on Route 290 which is the first time in many years that a ball have reached that area. The CBB will be at the Quinnipiac-Holy Cross game on Saturday between the two New England schools. Quinnipiac enters with a 2-8 overall record while Holy Cross is 4-10 on the year. Quinnipiac’s last game was Sunday when they finished a three game set with the Spartans where the Bobcats won the first game but lost the final two.
