Emmitsburg, Md. (December 16, 2008)–Mount St. Mary’s baseball coach Scott Thomson has announced five recruits for the 2009-10 school year. Vincent Molesky (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville), Patrick Moriarty (Dumfries, Va./Potomac), Sam Nott (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin), Karl Lamont (Williamsburg, Iowa/Williamsburg) and Mark Quaranta (/Loyola Blakefield) will attend the Mount in the fall of 2009. RINDGE, N.H. (May 11, 2008) – Third-seeded Franklin Pierce University, ranked 20th in this week’s National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and pingbaseball.com Division II polls and 29th in the Collegiate Baseball magazine rankings, opened a 6-0 lead after five innings and held off a late rally to collect a 6-4 victory over second-seeded Southern Connecticut State University, among teams receiving votes in the NCBWA poll, and claim its second-straight Northeast-10 Conference Baseball Championship, presented by Diamond Sports and UBS/The Ricciardi Group, at Dr. Arthur and Martha Pappas Field this afternoon. RINDGE, N.H. – Senior starting pitcher Toby Nylin (Pleasant Valley, Conn.) pitched a complete-game four-hitter and recorded a career-high 11 strikeouts on Saturday to lead the Southern Connecticut State University baseball team to a 6-1 victory over Pace in an elimination game at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships at Dr. Pappas Field. Freshman left fielder Andrew Babb (Hopkinton, Mass.) hit 2-for-4 and drove in two runs for the Owls. With the win, SCSU improves to 35-16, while Pace falls to 31-23 with the loss. PLEASANTVILLE, NY – Vaulted by a pair of late-inning Mark Dondero (Medfield, Mass.) singles Saturday afternoon, the Bryant University baseball team claimed the outright 2008 Northeast-10 regular-season title for the first time since 1998 with a pair of road wins over Pace University, 3-0 and 1-0.
The Bulldogs (38-16, 25-5 NE-10) had a share of the conference title in 2000 and 2002, but with the wins earn the undisputed top seed in the final weekend of play. Read the rest of this entry »

Brookline, Mass. – Matt Rogers’ decisive eighth inning home run powered Harvard to a 7-6 victory over Northeastern in the Crimson’s regular season finale Wednesday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.
With the score tied at six and one out in the top of the eighth, Rogers connected on the first pitch the saw from reliever Dan Zehr (1-4) for a no doubter, high over the scoreboard in left-center for his third long ball of the season. The solo shot would hold up on the strength of outstanding relief pitching as three Crimson relievers limited Northeastern to one hit through the last 5.2 innings. Read the rest of this entry »

Share RINDGE, NH — The Bryant University baseball team split Thurday’s doubleheader against regionally top-seeded Franklin Pierce University, losing 7-5 in Game One while taking Game Two, 6-5.
Thanks to a one-out double in the bottom of the eight of Game Two Thursday from senior designated hitterMark Dondero (Medfield, Mass.), who scored the go-ahead run from second, the Bulldogs (17-11, 7-2 Northeast-10) earned a split with No. 5/7 Franklin Pierce (18-3, 5-1) with a 6-5 win in Thursday’s nightcap. SMITHFIELD, RI – The Bryant University baseball team took Northeast-10 rival Southern New Hampshire for 15 runs off 18 hits, batting around in the fifth inning, en route to the Bulldogs’ second shutout of the season, 15-0, Thursday at the Bryant Baseball Complex.
Bryant went up 3-0 by the end of the fourth, scoring one in the bottom of the first and two more in the fourth frame, before exploding for a nine-run, seven-hit fifth inning that saw the Bulldogs (14-10, 4-1 Northeast-10) bat around – and seal a 2008 regular-season sweep of Southern New Hampshire (2-11, 0-5). Share The CBB recently made the trip down to Bryant University to see the home opener for the Bulldogs against Bentley. The Bulldogs are the second ranked team in the Northeast while Bentley is unranked. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning behind a single from Nick Campbell through the third base and shortstop hole to bring home Jason Alexander to break the 0-0 tie. The game stayed 1-0 until the ninth inning behind Bryant freshman starting pitcher David O’Brien who went seven strong innings while only allowing two singles and two walks while striking out eight Bentley batters. Share The Bryant Bulldogs knocked off Number 1 ranked Mount Olive Trojans 5-4 on Thursday which was the first loss of the season for the Mount Olive snapping a 23 game winning streak. The Bulldogs were down 4-0 after three innings but were able to come back behind a strong pitching performance from freshmen pitchers Michael Ryan and David O’Brien. The Bulldogs scored three runs in the fifth innings to get back in the game behind hits from Mark Dondero, Dave Muscatello, and Jason Alexander. Bryant would score a run in the sixth inning to tie the game before taking the lead for good in the seventh inning when Pat O’Connor hit a double to drive in Jeff Vigurs with the winning run.
