 David Esquer-Head Coach Cal Bears
Head Coach Esquer and the Cal Bears open the season with two two games series. The first one will be on the 20 and the 21st of February against UC-Riverside. They then follow that up with a two game series against the Vanderbilt Commodores on the 22nd and the 23rd of February.

The University of Oklahoma baseball team reported for the first team practice of the fall semester on Thursday, Sept. 4.
The Sooners return seven position starters and 18 letterwinners overall from the 2008 team that advanced to the Tempe Regional Finals before falling to then-No. 4 Arizona State. Among those starters are Aaron Baker, Matt Harughty, Bryant Hernandez, Casey Johnson, Jamie Johnson, Tyson Seng and J.T. Wise.

Gamecocks set to welcome new baseball stadium
“There will not be a more impressive college baseball stadium in the country.” Those are the words of Athletic Director Eric Hyman in reference to USC’s new ballpark that will be opening in time for this year’s season.
Carolina fans sorrowfully said goodbye to Sarge Frye Field last year, a stadium rife with countless memories of players, coaches and unforgettable games. Nestled right below the Roost, the Sarge was the home site of Carolina baseball for 29 great seasons.

Darren Heitner of The Sports Agent Blog continues his great coverage of the MLB Signing Day. He put up a post today on some of the biggest suprises of the day including Gerritt Cole going to UCLA over signing with the Yankees. As I have already posted, today is the deadline for players to sign contracts from the 2008 MLB Draft. Pat Murphy of Arizona State currently has had 14 players from the 2008 team already signed a contract with six incoming recruits deciding to join the pro ranks. It looks like Jason Kipnis will be making it back to Tempe in 2008 as he is having problems coming to terms with the San Diego Padres. Murphy is also worrying about three incoming recruits who were drafted in the 22nd, 26th, and 35th round. He also is trying to get 7th round pick Johnny Coy to turn down MLB and head to campus. The USA Olympic Team will begin play on Wednesday August 13th when they open up round robin play against South Korea. It will be the first game in the Olympics for Team USA since their Gold Medal victory over Cuba in the 2000 Olympics behind the right arm of Ben Sheets. We break down the position players today with some background information. We will be checking out the pitchers on Sunday as we continue our preview of Team USA.
