Tennessee Fall World Series Game 4 RecapPosted by: Donald J. Boyles in 2008 Fall Games, SECFROM CBB NEWS SOURCE Kentrail Davis and Cody Hawn combined for eight RBI to lead the White team to a 9-2 victory over the Orange team on Saturday afternoon at Robert M. Lindsay Field at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The White team evened up the seven-game series at 2-2 with its win in the fourth game of the Tennessee baseball Orange & White World Series. Tennessee head coach Todd Raleigh thinks the close series will increase the intensity in the last three games.

Boyles in 2008 Fall Games, SECFROM CBB NEWS SOURCE The South Carolina baseball team continued its final weekend of fall practice with game two of the Garnet & Black World Series on Saturday afternoon at Sarge Frye Field. Trailing by one run, the Black squad scored single runs in both the fifth and sixth inning to rally to a 6-5 victory to even the series with the Garnet team. The rubber game is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 1:30 pm at the new baseball facility.

AUBURN, Ala. - The Orange Team was able to ride the arm of Jon Luke Jacobs to a Game 1 win in the Fall World Series on Friday night at Plainsman Park, winning 5-2. Jacobs allowed just one hit over four innings of scoreless baseball to give Volunteer Assistant Coach Jeff Duncan’s squad the early edge in the best-of-three series. The Garnet squad pushed across four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to defeat the Black team 7-3 in game one of a three-game set. Game one was played at the site of the new baseball stadium on Thursday afternoon.

South Carolina Baseball To Hold Alumni Game On SaturdayPosted by: Donald J. Boyles in 2008 Fall Games, SECFROM CBB NEWS SOURCE Over 84 former players, coaches and support staff from the University of South Carolina baseball program will return to Columbia, S.C. this week for Alumni Weekend. Among the festivities include a golf outing on Friday, Oc. 24 at “The Woodlands,” as well as the Alumni Game on Saturday, Oct. 25. First pitch at Sarge Frye Field is set for 1 pm with admission free of charge. Phillies-Rays set to face off in World SeriesPosted by: Brian Foley in ACC, Big East, Big West, MLB Draft, MLB Players, SEC![]() David Price from Vanderbilt celebrates ALCS victory Most of my readers know that I am a diehard Red Sox fan but we have to congratulate to the Philadelphia Phillies and the Tampa Bay Rays after they both advance to the 2008 World Series. The Rays ended up making the series on the arm of David Price who was the number 1 pick in the 2007 MLB draft after a standout career with the Vanderbilt Commodores. He ended up getting the final four outs in Game 7 of the ALCS protecting a two run lead. They also featured 2006 number 3 overall pick, 2005 Cape Cod League MVP, and 2006 Big West Player of the Year Evan Longoria from Long Beach State. He has played in all eleven games of the playoffs with a .262 average, six homers, and eleven RBI. With the win, the Jets, coached by student assistant coach and former Cardinal James Belanger, take a 1-0 advantage over the Zephyrs, coached by assistant coach Xan Barksdale, in the best-of-three intra-squad series, which closes fall workouts for the Louisville baseball team.

The Jags host Meridian Community College Saturday at noon and Northwest Florida State College Sunday at 1 p.m. Both games are at Stanky Field. Saturday’s game against Meridian is scheduled for seven innings, but the teams are allowed to play for up to four hours, so they will play a second game with the remaining time. After the seven-inning game ends, there will be a brief break for field maintenance before the new game begins. The second game will last as long as possible within the initial four-hour timeframe. Courtesy: OhioStateBuckeyes.com Baseball: Scarlet Home Runs Spark World Series Win Gwen Stefani, former lead singer of the rock group No Doubt, was not in Bill Davis Stadium Wednesday night, but there were two no-doubt home runs for Team Scarlet that sparked its series-clinching, 7-4, victory over Team Gray in the deciding game of the annual Scarlet and Gray World Series. Matt Streng, a junior infielder from Upper Arlington hit a two-out blast deep into right field in the bottom of the fifth inning to pull Scarlet back into the lead at 6-4 after the Gray had taken a 4-2 lead in the fifth inning. Then in the sixth inning Ryan Dew, a junior outfielder from Croton, Ohio, sent a laser of a shot into right field to extend the lead to 7-4. |

Auburn Fall World Series Game 1 Recap
The Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees at the University of South Carolina has approved a one-year contract extension for head baseball coach Ray Tanner. The contract extension keeps Tanner under contract through the end of the 2013 season. Coach Tanner is in his 13th year as head coach for the Gamecock baseball program.
Kendall Rogers of Rivals.com checks in with a good article on the Alabama baseball program. It focuses on how the decision of Jim Wells to return to the Crimson Tide program after a brief fliration with retirement. Rogers believes that the program is back on solid footing with a youth infusion that could lead the Crimson Tide back into the NCAA Tournament.
