Share MANSFIELD CONN.- While the first NCAA regional game between WPI and Suffolk went down to the wire, the second game of the day between Babson and Eastern Connecticut was decided early thanks to a barrage of hits by the Beavers and a 158 pitch, ten strikeout complete game by sophomore Andrew Aizenhadt.
Eighth seeded Babson took a 2-0 lead in the first but blew the game open in the second with seven runs against the top seeded Warriors and held on for a 10-6 win. Read the rest of this entry »

Share MANSFIELD CONN.- The opening game of the Division III New England regional began with a dominating pitching performance by WPI senior Conor Fahey that appeared to put the Engineers in line for an easy win. MINNEAPOLIS – The D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25 media poll was released just before the start of the NCAA Division III tournament and Salisbury University moved up one spot to No. 2. The Sea Gulls (37-6) garnered three first-place votes and 575 total points.

Share The first day of action in the Division 3 NCAA Tournament begins today at 10 am (eastern) with three regionals in action. The New England Regional features Worcester Poly Tech facing Suffolk hosted by Eastern Connecticut State. The South Regional will kick off at the same time with Washington and Jefferson playing Christopher Newport in Salisbury MD while the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional begins with New Jersey taking on Penn State-Behrend. The entire New England Regional will be webcasted for free by the host school (CLICK HERE) and some of the other regionals might be have video/audio but all will have live stats. The NCAA Division III Baseball Committee has announced the 54 teams that will compete in the 2009 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.
Six teams will compete at five first-round sites; eight teams will compete at three first-round sites. All first rounds will use a double-elimination format. Thirty-five conference champions qualified automatically.
Winners of the eight first-round tournaments will qualify for the double-elimination championship at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wisconsin, May 22-26. Read the rest of this entry »

RICHARDSON, Texas –– The University of Texas at Dallas senior third baseman Cody Ross and Sul Ross State University junior shortstop Javier Arrieta earned player of the year honors, while University of Texas at Tyler senior right-hander Brett Holland, Hardin-Simmons University senior right-hander Kyle Barton and Concordia Texas University junior right-hander Michael Johnson earned pitcher of the year accolades to highlight the 2009 American Southwest Conference baseball awards, following a division-only vote by head coaches, the conference office announced on Wednesday (May 6).

CLINTON, Miss. – After a five hour rain delay, two games and a thrilling ninth inning comeback, The University of Texas at Tyler baseball team claimed the first American Southwest Conference Championship in program history just after midnight on Monday morning at Mississippi College’s Frierson Field in Clinton.
With a scheduled 1 p.m. start, game one of the ASC Title game was pushed back to 6 p.m. due to inclement weather in Clinton. Once the game finally began, the Patriots turned in a dominating 16-2 performance over Mississippi College to force a winner-takes-all game two.
In game two, the Patriots mounted a thrilling ninth inning rally to capture the ASC Championship with an 8-5 win.

Game 3: Texas-Dallas 10, Texas Lutheran 7 (10); TLU eliminated
CLINTON, MS (05.02.09) – The UT Dallas baseball team found its missing offense Saturday afternoon and is still alive in the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament, rallying for a 10-7 win over Texas Lutheran in a 10-inning elimination game Saturday afternoon.
