ARKADELPHIA – Ouachita Baptist University head baseball coach Chris Moddelmog announced Monday the hiring of Luke Howard.
Howard will assume the role of pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at Ouachita Baptist. He comes to OBU after a one year stint at Murray State University, a Division I school in the Ohio Valley Conference.
“Luke will bring a lot of energy and excitement to our program. He is a good recruiter and a tireless worker on and off the field. I look forward to him and his wife Anne joining the OBU baseball family,” Moddelmog said.

(Charleston) - Former College of Charleston standout and South Carolina assistant coach Monte Lee has been named the Cougars’ head baseball coach, Charleston’s director of athletics Joe Hull announced Thursday at an 11:00 a.m. press conference at Randolph Hall on the school’s campus. Lee replaces John Pawlowski who was named head coach at Auburn on June 20, 2008.
Lee, 31, joins the Cougars after spending the past six seasons as an assistant at South Carolina under head coach Ray Tanner. He served as the Gamecocks’ recruiting coordinator last season. Lee also worked with the outfielders and hitters during his tenure.

Wes Carroll will be named the new head coach of Evansville in the near future according to a report by tv station WFIE. Carroll has spent the last two seasons as an assitant at the school and will replace Dave Seifert. The full report from the TV station is available here.

JONESBORO (7/1/08) – Arkansas State University Director of Athletics Dr. Dean Lee announced Tuesday that Tommy Raffo has been named head coach of the Red Wolves baseball team.
“We are extremely pleased to hire a coach with the background and experience of competing at the highest level that Tommy Raffo brings,” said Lee. “We had an extremely strong pool of candidates for this position, and feel that Coach Raffo was unquestionably the best fit to take over the Arkansas State baseball program. PEORIA, Ill. — Elvis Dominguez, who has served as the head coach at Eastern Kentucky University for the last seven years and has connections to the Missouri Valley Conference that go back more than 25 years, has been named the 15th head coach in Bradley Baseball history. Dominguez, who replaces the retiring Dewey Kalmer, was introduced during a press conference Tuesday morning at O’Brien Field.
“First of all, we are extremely appreciative of the tremendous run and numerous contributions that Coach Kalmer has made during his nearly three decades at the helm of the Bradley Baseball program and now wish Dewey and Carol a wonderful retirement,” said Bradley Director of Athletics Ken Kavanagh. “We welcome Elvis and his family to Bradley Athletics and hope that they have a similar long run on the Hilltop.”

AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn Athletics Director Jay Jacobs announced Friday that John Pawlowski has been named head baseball coach. Pawlowski spent the previous nine seasons as the head coach at the College of Charleston, where he led the program to three NCAA postseason berths, one Super Regional appearance and four Southern Conference titles.
“This is a tremendous opportunity and I’m looking forward to helping bring the Auburn baseball program back to national prominence,” Pawlowski said. “There is a rich history and tradition here at Auburn and I plan on working tirelessly to make this a national contender.”

STEPHENVILLE - Tarleton athletics director Lonn Reisman has announced the hiring of Bryan Conger as the head coach of the Tarleton baseball program.
“Bryan brings in a solid vision of where he wants the Tarleton baseball program to be in the future,” Reisman said. “He brings in five years of NCAA Division I experience from Utah and that has helped him develop some great contacts across the country. I was impressed with his enthusiasm, his energy and his knowledge of the game of baseball. I think our players will be very impressed with Coach Conger and I have every confidence he will take our baseball program to where it needs to be in order to compete for both Lone Star Conference championships and NCAA playoff berths.”

JONESBORO (6/16/08) - Arkansas State Head Baseball Coach Keith Kessinger has elected not to accept the contract offered by ASU and will not return next season as the Red Wolves head coach, ASU Director of Athletics Dr. Dean Lee announced Monday.
Kessinger is completing the final year of a three-year contract which was extended following the 2005 season. He was offered a one-year extension following the 2008 season. Kessinger came to Arkansas State prior to the 2003 season and compiled a 151-178-1 record over the last six years, including a 33-23 record in 2005, the fourth-most victories ever for an ASU baseball team. OMAHA, Neb. — Hours after being introduced as the new head baseball coach at the University of Central Florida, LSU pitching coach and recruiting coordinator Terry Rooney arrived Thursday night at the site of the College World Series.
His long-range plans for UCF now take a backseat to his immediate goal: to finish the job the right way with LSU.

Longtime assistant at Oregon State and former Red Raider becomes eighth head coach in school history
LUBBOCK, Texas - Dan Spencer was formally introduced as the eighth head baseball coach in Texas Tech school history today at a news conference held in the Masked Rider Lobby at Jones AT&T Stadium on the Texas Tech University campus.
Spencer succeeds Larry Hays who spent the last 22 seasons as the head coach of the Red Raiders and stepped down from his position back on June 2. He becomes just the eighth head coach in school history joining E.Y. Freeland (1925-27), R. Higginbotham (1928-29), Bettie Feathers (1954-60), Berl Huffman (1961-67), Kal Segrist (1968-83), Gary Ashby (1984-86) and Larry Hays (1987-2008). Read the rest of this entry »

ARKADELPHIA – Ouachita Baptist Director of Athletics David Sharp announced Friday the hiring of new Tiger baseball coach Chris Moddelmog from Fort Scott Community College.
Moddelmog succeeds Scott Norwood, who took the head coaching position at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock.
“I am very excited to announce that we have hired Chris to be our head baseball coach,” Sharp said. “He brings a very strong background in recruiting to our position. He will also bring a very aggressive style in the way he coaches the game. Also he has a good record of recruiting quality young men with the aspiration to attain a college degree. The first coach of the reinstated Seattle University Redhawks baseball team will be Donny Harrel. Harrel is currently an assistant coach at Washington, and was previously an assistant coach at Oregon State.
Harrel’s first day on the job will be July 1. The Redhawks will field a Division I team for the 2009-2010 season.

HEMPSTEAD, NY - Hofstra University Head Baseball Coach Chris Dotolo has resigned his position effective June 15, Pride Director of Athletics Jack Hayes announced today.
Dotolo, the 12th baseball coach in Hofstra history, took over the reigns of the program when the Pride joined the competitive Colonial Athletic Association in 2002. He completed his seventh season in 2008 with a 19-36 season record and a 7-23 mark in the CAA. In his seven seasons, Dotolo posted a 125-244-1 record. He is just the third Hofstra coach to win 100 games for the Pride, a feat he accomplished with a 10-9 win over James Madison on April 21, 2007, joining Jack Smith (179 wins) and Rich Martin (127 wins).
