A wedding in Delhi and a stunning workload have kept me from putting together my Vandy and SEC baseball previews (I’ll try to get them up this weekend), but there’s some great news out of Nashville: Vanderbilt will be streaming free webcasts of their games in the opening weekend tournament. Alan Trubow has continue with his scouting report of the University of Texas. In this article he looks at the pitching staff which will be very deep and talented but also inexperience .
The Longhorns open the season Friday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field against Virginia Commonwealth. One of the biggest concerns for Texas this year is pitching. The Longhorns will need to find more depth with the condensed schedule and will have to rely on youth to develop.

The New Mexico State Aggies will host the New Orleans Privateers on Friday in the first game of a three game set. The Aggies are coming off a 22-34 season while going 6-18 in the WAC. New Orleans is coming off a Sun Belt championship which saw them participate in the Wichita State Regional where they went 1-2. The University of Texas-San Antonio is hosting a great tournament on the opening weekend. Joining the Roadrunners this season is Army, Louisiana-Lafayette, Texas Tech, and Oral Roberts. We enter the opening weekend of the College Baseball season. We will be bringing you an ACC weekend preview throughout the regular season and during the postseason will have previews of every regional. The biggest highlight of the weekend is Wake Forest heading out to Pepperdine for a three game set. We have a great preview on every ACC in our conference preview section broken off by divisions. The UC-Irvine Anteaters will open the season at the University of Nevada. The Anteaters are coming into the season after going 47-17-1 and qualifying for the CWS after winning the Texas Regional and the Wichita State Super Regional. They will have a new coach in 2008 with Mike Gillespie taking over for Dave Serrano who left for Cal-State Fullerton. Nevada comes into the season coming off a 35-26 campaign while going 15-9 in the WAC which was good enough for second place in the conference.

The Cal-State Fullerton Titans are set to visit the TCU Horned Frogs for a three game set starting on Friday. The Titans are under the direction of former UC-Irvine head coach Dave Serrano. The Titans went 39-25 in 2007 while sweeping through the San Diego Regional and the Super Regionals over UCLA to qualify for the College World Series for the 15th time in the school’s history.
