Share The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today with number 93 in our countdown with Missouri State junior LHP Aaron Meade. He is a 6’2 175 pound left-handed pitcher out of Rockhurst High School and Kansas City, Missouri. His senior season saw him go 4-2 with a 2.25 ERA and win Rockhurst High School’s Pitcher of the Year award.

TOPEKA, KS - The Topeka Golden Giants are announcing plans to leave the Missouri Iowa Nebraska Kansas League (M.I.N.K. League) for the upcoming 2010 season. The Golden Giants will instead play an independent schedule and will fill 25 home dates this summer.
The Golden Giants have enjoyed their relationship with the M.I.N.K. League and it’s member franchises throughout their first five years of existence, but feel the time is right to move in another direction.

TOPEKA, KANSAS - The Topeka Golden Giants are pleased to announce that former Hayden High School standout John Tetuan will be the team’s new field manager for the 2010 season.
Tetuan has been an assistant coach with the Golden Giants since 2005 and will step into the role being vacated by Kent Becker.

DURHAM, N.C.–Mississippi and Washington State lead all schools by placing five players apiece on Baseball America’s top prospects lists for 18 different summer college leagues and Team USA. Last summer, Louisiana State and Texas each led the nation with five players apiece on BA’s summer league lists, and those two teams wound up facing off for the national championship at the College World Series.
BA ranked the top 30 prospects for the talent-rich Cape Cod League, and the top 10 prospects in 17 other summer college leagues. In addition, the top 20 Team USA prospects were ranked.

Share LSU’s Austin Nola Hits for the Cycle in Summer League
DANVILLE, Ill. — When he arrived in Danville to join the Dans, Austin Nola brought with him plenty of memories from his school season at LSU.
Both he and Dans teammate Mikie Mahtook were late-comers after winning this year’s College World Series.

Share The Topeka Capital Journal has a great article on the Topeka Golden Giants plans for the 2010 season with the Lake Shawnee Ballpark which serves as the team’s home. The Golden Giants are members of the MINK League and had early success this season before injuries riddled the squad. The team is also exploring the possibility of leaving the MINK League in favor of going independent and making weekend trips as far away as Mexico and Alaska. Read the rest of this entry »

Pilots Soar Past Diamondjaxx
Anchorage run-ruled South Tulsa 10-0 in five innings with three runs in each of the 1st, 2nd and 5th innings and one in the 4th. Gunnison came from behind twice to defeat Park City Rangers 4-3 in 10 innings. There were 8 batters hit by a pitch and 1 really bizzare play that had everyone confused. Coastal Plain League
Playing for the Fayetteville (N.C.) Swap Dogs, sophomore-to-be Jason King went 6-for-23 last week to raise his average… King’s best game came on Thursday in an 8-4 victory against Martinsville as he went 3-for-4 with one run scored and two RBI… King’s average now sits at .257 with six doubles, two triples, one home run and 10 RBI… Another future sophomore, Carter Jurica, went 1-for-17 last week, lowering his season average to .219 with three doubles and 14 RBI… His lone hit of the week also came against Martinsville on Thursday… The Swap Dogs, who finished the first half of the season in second place in the south division, is off to a 4-5 start to the second half.
