837-S1dorrell8-5.mi_embedded.prod_affiliate.76 Wes Dorrell who is entering his last year of baseball eligible has decided to leave Big West member Cal Poly for NAIA member Fresno Pacific. According to an article in The Tribune out of San Luis Obispo CA, Dorrell had a falling out with head coach Larry Lee. Dorrell stated the following about his transfer “A fallout with Cal Poly coach Larry Lee, a conflict of interest, to put it in the best words possible.” Larry Lee refutes this claim by stating in the article that there was never a fallout with Dorrell in his eyes.

The College Baseball Blog continues our series of previews this week checking in on the Atlantic Division of the ACC. The CBB attends about 10-15 ACC games a season including seeing some of the players in the Cape Cod League. UNC won the division last season with an outstanding record of 57-17 and 21-9 in the ACC. A very nice article from The FSView and Florida Flambeau (Student paper of FSU) about Tony and Rod Delmonico coming over to the Florida State program this year after leaving Tennessee after his Rod was fired as the head coach. Tony is expected to start for the Seminoles at shortstop or second base. Rod will serve this season under Mark Martin Sr. as a volunteer assistant coach after being with the Seminoles as the top assistant/recruiting coordinator in the late 80’s. Shawn Shroyer of The University Daily Kansan checks in with a great interview with Ritch Price. He discusses how the uniform start date has affected his program which is making him a pain to his wife. Price also discusses the new caps his team will wear during some of the games which are inspired by some Montreal Expos uniforms. The full interview is available here.

Kansas has announced two transfers for 2008 with two left handed pitchers in Sam Freeman and Daniel Manos joining the program. Freeman comes over from North Central Texas College where he went 10-1 with a 3.20 ERA in 2007. Manos comes over from Santa Ana College (CA) where he went 2-0 with a 2.31 ERA in 17 appearances. The Virginia Tech Hokies picked up two transfers for the 2008 season in Danny Farris and Michael Seaborn. Farris spent his freshmen season at Pepperdine where he accumulated a 2-1 record with a 4.38 ERA. Seaborn comes over from Kentucky where he redshirted last season. Seaborn had a strong summer campaign in the NYCBL where he led his team in batting average (.350), home runs (six), doubles (11), total bases (78), and slugging percentage (.557). UAB has picked up a very late transfer for the upcoming season in Dustin Colburn who will be playing for the school during the 2007 season. He attended Central Alabama originally but transferred to Shelton Community College for a couple of seasons before deciding to head back up to Division 1 in Alabama-Birmingham. Jason Ogata is planning on transferring from LSU to Oregon State. Ogata is going to be a sophomore next spring and is expected to compete for the second baseman job at Oregon State replacing Chris Kunda who had a wonderful career. Ogata was rated as the Best College Prospect from Oregon in 2005 and this move means he is going back to his home state.
