Share The LSU Tigers baseball program held a special ceremony on early Saturday evening when each member of the 2009 NCAA Championship squad received their championship ring. The Tigers had an outstanding run in the NCAA Tournament as they went 10-1 with the only loss coming in Game 2 of the CWS Championship series. You can check out the full press release below.

The LSU Tigers scored five runs in the sixth inning to break open a tie game and roll to an 11-4 victory over Texas in Game 3 of the CWS Championship Finals and claim the NCAA Division I Championship.
It’s the sixth national championship for LSU and the first under head coach Paul Mainieri. LSU ties Texas for the second-most national championships for any school, behind only Southern California’s 12 titles. It’s also the first national championship for the Tigers since 2000. OMAHA, Neb. — Pitching and offensive power carried Texas to a third and decisive game at the NCAA Division I College World Series Championship Finals after beating LSU 5-1, Tuesday.
After an hour and 34 minute rain delay, Longhorn starter Taylor Jungmann pitched a complete game, giving up just one run on five hits and dealing LSU its first loss in the NCAA Tournament. Jungmann struck out nine while walking just two. Read the rest of this entry »

OMAHA, Neb. — Sophomore right-hander Austin Ross will start game 2 of the College World Series championship final against Texas, LSU head coach Paul Mainieri announced Tuesday morning. LSU leads the best-of-three series, 1-0, after a dramatic 7-6 win in 11 innings on Monday.

Share After all the dust settled on the 2009 College Baseball season, we only have two teams standing with the LSU Tigers taking on the Texas Longhorns in the College World Series Championship Series. The LSU Tigers enter with a record of 54-16 while being on a 13 game postseason winning streak dating back to the SEC Tourney. Texas enters with a 49-14-1 record while being 8-1 in NCAA Tourney play with the only loss coming to TCU in the Super Regionals. Read the rest of this entry »

OMAHA, Neb. – Catcher Cameron Rupp and center fielder Connor Rowe hit solo home runs in the bottom of the ninth to give Texas a 4-3, walk-off win over Arizona State before a crowd of 23,257 Friday night at Rosenblatt Stadium.
The Longhorns, making their 32nd College World Series appearance in school history, improve to 8-1 in the NCAA Tournament and 49-14-1 on the season. OMAHA, Neb. – LSU used eight extra-base hits and six scoreless innings from right-hander Anthony Ranaudo to post a 14-5 victory over Arkansas before a crowd of 19,734 Friday afternoon at Rosenblatt Stadium.
The Tigers, making their 15th College World Series appearance in school history, improve to 8-0 in the NCAA Tournament and 54-16 on the season with their 13th consecutive win.
