TeamUSASS (PRINCE GEORGE, British Columbia) – Rick Hague (Rice), Bryce Brentz (Middle Tennessee State) and Michael Choice (UT Arlington) each hit a home run in the fifth inning and Team USA beat British Columbia 12-2 in eight innings at the 2009 Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline World Baseball Challenge at Prince George Citizen Field.

Devon Franklin hit a home run over the left field fence in the first inning and Mike Collins hit a homer in the fourth to lead 2-0 on Team USA starter Cody Wheeler (Coastal Carolina).

The USA National Team continues their play in the 2009 Enbridge Northern Gateway World Baseball Challenge tonight with a game against British Columbia. Team USA enters the game with a 3-1 record after winning their opening game against Canada 5-2 (Recap), then losing to Germany 6-3 (Recap), picking up a victory over The Bahamas by a score of 8-1 (Recap) and finally a victory yesterday over The Prince George Axemen by a score of 10-2 (Recap). The British Columbia club enters the game with a 3-1 record in the tourney with a loss to Team Canada. The game is set to start tonight at 6 PM Eastern/3 PM Pacific time. SonnyGray(Vandy) PRINCE GEORGE, British Columbia — Rick Hague (Rice) went 3-4 with one of three U.S. home runs and Team USA defeated the host Prince George Axemen, 10-2, at the 2009 Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline World Baseball Challenge at Prince George Citizen Field.

The Axemen (2-2) got on the board in the bottom of the first inning with a double to right center by Darrin Doucette to take a short-lived one-run lead.

The Prince George Axemen enter the game with a 2-1 record after defeating Germany 8-4 and The Bahamas 13-3 while picking up a loss to Team BC 10-4. (PRINCE GEORGE, British Columbia) – Asher Wojciechowski (The Citadel) struck out nine batters in seven innings and Team USA beat Bahamas, 8-1, at the 2009 Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline World Baseball Challenge at Prince George Citizen Field.

Kolten Wong (Hawaii) hit a double down the right field line to score Tyler Holt (Florida State) in the first inning and Matt Newman (Arizona State) stole home in the second for a 2-0, Team USA lead.

The USA National Team continues their play in the 2009 Enbridge Northern Gateway World Baseball Challenge. Team USA opened up play on Sunday with a 5-2 victory over the Canadian National Team. (FULL STORY). They followed that up with a surprise loss to the German National Team by a score of 6-3. (FULL STORY). The team from The Bahamas has struggled in this tournament as they have lost to Prince George Axemen by a score of 13-3 (Box Score), Germany 20-3 (Box Score), and got no-hit by the Canadian National Team in a 14-0 defeat. BradMiller (PRINCE GEORGE, British Columbia) – Team USA pitchers surrendered three home runs and German pitcher Tim Henkenjohann pitched 8.2 innings as Team Germany beat the U.S., 6-3, at the 2009 Enbridge Northern Pipeline World Baseball Challenge at Prince George Citizen Field.

USA starter T.J. Walz (Kansas) surrendered a solo home run to Jendrick Speer and a two-run shot to Simon Guerhing in the bottom of the fourth inning as Germany (2-1) went up 3-0 on the U.S.

Christian Colon (Cal State Fullerton) hit a solo home run over the wall in left field in the first inning to put the U.S. up front early, 1-0.

teamusapic(TOKYO) – Japan took advantage of back-to-back errors in the bottom of the 11th inning to clinch the 37th Annual USA vs. Japan Collegiate Championships with an 8-7 victory at Jingu Stadium.

With the game tied at seven, pitcher Sonny Gray’s (Vanderbilt) errant pickoff attempt moved Shota Kioke to third base with two outs. (TSURUOKA, Japan) – Team Japan struck out 14 U.S. batters and Team USA stranded 16 runners on base as it fell to Japan 8-3 in game four of the 37th Annual USA vs. Japan Collegiate Championships in Tsuruoka, Japan.
