STARKVILLE, Miss. – Several candidates for the prestigious Dick Howser Trophy highlight the 14th Annual Pro-Line Athletic National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-America Team announced Wednesday.
The 2009 Pro-Line Athletic/NCBWA All-America Team includes eight now-consensus selections, and such Howser Trophy semifinalists as NCAA World Series-bound 1B Dustin Ackley of North Carolina and Arizona State pitcher Mike Leake, along with fellow luminaries pitchers Kyle Bellamy of Miami (Fla.), A.J. Share The Major League Baseball Draft takes place today at 6pm Eastern time. The first day of the draft consists of Round One, Compensation Round A, Round Two, Round Three and Compensation Round B. All these rounds will be shown in its entirety on the MLB Network. The College Baseball Blog has done a ton of articles on the Top College Baseball Players in the nation and also attended two of the top High School All-American games last summer. ShareAlex White is a 6-3 200 pound right handed pitcher out of the University of North Carolina. He entered the season as the second or third best right handed college pitcher. ShareDustin Ackley is widely considered the best available college bat available in the 2009 MLB Draft. Ackley is a 6′1 184 pound first baseman right now who could get moved to the outfield at the next level. He currently has a .412 average with 22 homers and 70 RBI. Ackley is also a solid baserunner as he has 13 stolen bases in 17 attempts. I have included a video of Dustin’s swing from a Boston College and North Carolina game this season. ShareMike Minor is a 6′4 195 pound left handed starting pitcher from Vanderbilt University. He entered the 2009 SEC season as the Commodores number 1 starter where he went 6-6 with a 3.90 ERA.
Yes, those numbers are not that great but he had an outstanding summer with the USA National Team including two victories over the eventual Cuban Olympic Team. He finished the summer with a 3-0 record and a 0.75 ERA in six appearances including five starts. Read the rest of this entry »

Share I made the trip to the North Carolina and Boston College game on May 14th. The main reason for the trip was to get a look at UNC stud righthander Alex White who was ranked as the third best player in the country before the season by me.
