Area Code Baseball

Area Code Baseball

Area Code Baseball got under way yesterday at Blair Field in Long Beach State. In the morning all the players were put through a Player Evaluation / SPARQ Testing that was wrap up by 3:00.

Rangers 5- White Sox 4

They First game started at 4pm pitting the Texas Rangers Area Code team against the Chicago White Sox Area Code Team. The Rangers defeated the White Sox 5-4 behind some clutch hitting and Josh Turley came into to pitched the final two innings and close the door on the White Sox. Full Story

Cincinnati Reds Area Code Team

The 22nd playing of the Area Code Baseball Games will be held on August 5-10, 2008 at Blair Field in Long Beach, California. This year, teams will compete with players from around the nation with the Chicago White Sox, Texas Rangers, Washington Nationals, Milwaukee Brewers, Cincinnati Reds and New York Yankees bringing teams back in 2008. MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - A total of 34 standout freshman college baseball players from every part of the country are featured on the inaugural Pro-Line Athletic National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Freshman All-American Team, the organization announced today.

The 2008 Pro-Line Athletic NCBWA Freshman All-American Team is comprised from 15 conferences and seven conference championship teams. The two All-American squads are also made up of 11 conference “Rookie of the Year” winners. Read the rest of this entry »

DURHAM, N.C. –- USA Baseball announced on Monday its third round of invitations for the 2008 National Team Trials held June 11-23 throughout the northeast and southeast United States. This eight-member list is composed of five sophomores and three freshmen, joining the 26-member invitee list announced over the past month. USA Baseball Logo(DURHAM, N.C.) - USA Baseball announced Tuesday its second round of invitations for the 2008 National Team Trials held June 11-23 throughout the northeast and southeast United States. This 14-member list is comprised of nine sophomores and five freshmen, joining the 12-member initial invitee list announced earlier this month. Thought this would be a good time to do a follow up on some of the freshmen who have been contributing to their respective teams, as the regular portion of the season has concluded and conference tourneys are ready to begin.

I like to use OPS percentage as a gauge as the equation includes power factors as well as on-base frequency. I have also included the HR and Extra-base hits frequencies to show a player propensity for delivering a big hit.
