We continue the list today with number 64 in our countdown with Baylor sophomore RHP Logan Verrett. He is from Corpus Christi, Texas where he attended Calallen High School where he played under Steve Chapman.

We continue the list today with number 68 in our countdown with UC-Riverside sophomore catcher Rob Brantly. He is a 6’3 195 pound catcher out of Temecula Valley California where he went to Chapparal High School. He picked up four letters in high school including being named 2007-08 First-Team All-League and 2008 First-Team All-Valley and Second-Team All-County. He was picked in the 2008 MLB Draft by the Washington Nationals with the 1378 overall selection but decided to attend UC-Riverside.

We continue the list today with number 75 in our countdown with Hawaii sophomore infielder/outfielder Kolten Wong. He is from Kamehameha-Hawaii High School in Kea’au, Hawai`i where he lettered in baseball and football. He was named State Co-Player of the Year as senior after hitting .660 for the season. He was named All-League First team from 2005-2008 while being named first team All-State in 2006 and 2008. He was selected in the 16th round by the Minnesota Twins but was not able to come to an agreement with the team.

He is from Monee Illinois and attended St. Rita High School where he played four seasons under Mike Zunica. He finished his senior season with a .426 batting average with eight homers and 30 RBI as a second baseman.

We continue the list today with number 86 in our countdown with Army junior two-way player Ben Koenigsfeld. He is from New Port Richey Florida and attended Ridgewood High School where he was a three sport standout in basketball and swimming in addition to baseball. He was a two-time conference selection while being named League Pitcher of the Year as a senior. He was selected for the Florida All-Star Game for his solid interscholastic career.

We continue the list today with number 89 in our countdown with Oregon State sophomore RHP Sam Gaviglio. He is a 6’1 170 pound righthander out of Ashland High School in Ashland Oregon. He picked up three letters in high school playing under Don Senestrero. In his senior season, he went a perfect 13-0 with a 0.50 ERA including 108 strikeouts while picking up 5A Pitcher of the Year award. The Tampa Bay Rays selected him in the 40th round but decided to attend Oregon State to play under Pat Casey.

BaseballAmerica DURHAM, N.C.–Mississippi and Washington State lead all schools by placing five players apiece on Baseball America’s top prospects lists for 18 different summer college leagues and Team USA. Last summer, Louisiana State and Texas each led the nation with five players apiece on BA’s summer league lists, and those two teams wound up facing off for the national championship at the College World Series.

BA ranked the top 30 prospects for the talent-rich Cape Cod League, and the top 10 prospects in 17 other summer college leagues. In addition, the top 20 Team USA prospects were ranked.

pressconferencefield350 SAN DIEGO –  For the third time in four years, 40 of the nation’s top high school baseball players will descend upon San Diego to play in the Aflac All-American High School Baseball Classic, the country’s premier high school baseball showcase. This year’s game will be played on Aug. 16 at 5 p.m. PDT in PETCO Park, home of the San Diego Padres, and will once again be televised live nationally on FOX Sports Net.

The Classic features an East vs. West format, played annually during the late summer before most participants have returned to school. For the second consecutive year, the Aflac Classic will be played in a major league venue. The 2008 showcase was played in Los Angeles’ historic Dodger Stadium. The 2006 and 2007 games were held at San Diego State University’s Tony Gwynn Stadium.
The Aflac All-American Classic, however, is more than just a game. As part of Aflac’s ongoing commitment to the fight against childhood cancer, all game proceeds from the 2009 Aflac All-American High School Baseball Classic will benefit Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. Since 2003, the game has generated nearly $685,000 for charity.
