RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State left-hander Jimmy Gillheeney shut out No. 1 North Carolina over seven innings to lead the Wolfpack to a 3-0 win Friday in the series-opener at Doak Field. The Tar Heels (37-12, 16-8 ACC) held State (23-27, 9-16 ACC) to just five hits but matched a season high with 12 runners left on base to snap a five-game winning streak and a run of six straight victories in ACC play. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State (35-12) scored early and often Wednesday night in cruising to a 15-5 victory over Florida International (30-19) on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium. The Seminoles tallied 11 runs in the first three innings as every FSU starter registered a hit as it was the first meeting between the two schools since 1991.
