The Long Beach Press Telegram writer Bob Keisser has written an article previewing the 15 new faces around the Long Beach State program in 2009 and a potential lineup. The biggest name in the group is former Miami (FL) corner infielder Joey Terdoslavich who will be sitting out the 2009 season due to the new transfer rules. Andrew Gagnon who was selected in the 10th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates turned down a sizable bonus to play for the Dirtbags. He went 8-3 with a 1.58 ERA with Liberty High School in California. He should be able to compete for a spot in the starting rotation right away. Read the rest of this entry »

This is a first in a series of reports I will file leading into the 2009 college baseball season. I decided to start with some of the top power producers who had great 2008 seasons that didn’t get much press except from their local media and schools.

 Durham Bulls Athletic Park
FROM CBB NEWS SOURCE
Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, N.C., will be the site of the 2009 Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Championship, Commissioner John D. Swofford announced today.
The 10,000-seat downtown stadium is home to the city’s Triple-A team and will serve as the host venue for the 13-game tournament May 20-24.
Boston’s Fenway Park was originally scheduled to host this year’s ACC Baseball Championship, but the Fenway Sports Group was forced to defer until 2010 after discovering an in-house scheduling error in mid-August. That left the ACC to pursue a new site for 2009, and the Durham Bulls were able to accommodate the Championship despite the relatively short notice.
