2009Logo The Register Citizen which serves Litchfield County Connecticut is reporting that the Peekskill Robins of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League is close to finalizing a deal to move the team to Torrington Connecticut. The team has played the last two seasons in Peekskill NY and the previous five seasons played in Stamford CT.

BaseballAmerica DURHAM, N.C.–Mississippi and Washington State lead all schools by placing five players apiece on Baseball America’s top prospects lists for 18 different summer college leagues and Team USA. Last summer, Louisiana State and Texas each led the nation with five players apiece on BA’s summer league lists, and those two teams wound up facing off for the national championship at the College World Series.

BA ranked the top 30 prospects for the talent-rich Cape Cod League, and the top 10 prospects in 17 other summer college leagues. In addition, the top 20 Team USA prospects were ranked.

Sophomore outfielder Austin Newell and junior pitcher Lex Wolfe of The University of Texas at Tyler baseball team were both named to the Wolff Division All-Star team and will play in the 2008 Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League All-Star game on July 28. Patriots’ assistant coach Wes Davis will be making an all-star appearance as well, coaching the American team in the 2008 Coastal Plain League All-Star game on July 21.

Wolfe currently has a record of 1-2 for the Jersey Pilots with one save over 47.0 innings pitched. The right-hander from New Jersey has struck out 45 batters this summer and has allowed just 12 earned runs for an ERA of 2.30.
