ChrisSale_YD_8Aug09_0509_400 YARMOUTH, Mass.– Red Sox hurler Chris Sale (Florida Gulf Coast) sailed to the top of the list of pitchers this season earning him the BFC Outstanding Pitcher Award for the 2009 Cape Cod Baseball League Season. Sale was received the award after the first game in Round 2 of the playoffs at Red Wilson Field.

“It’s exciting,” said Sale. “I never really checked my stats during the year. I didn’t really know how I was holding up to the rest of the pack as far ERA, strikeouts, and what not but it was very surprising and very gratifying.”

TylorStubblefield Kennesaw State enters the 2010 campaign as a full-fledged participant in Division I baseball.  The Owls will have the opportunity to play in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament and earn a birth in the NCAA Baseball Tournament.  In 2009, Kennesaw State compiled a 30-22 overall record and posted a very impressive 20-9 mark in Atlantic Sun play.

The Owls will open the season with a six game homestand.  The Liberty Flames will visit Kennesaw February 19-21, followed by the Samford Bulldogs on February 26-28.

One would presume that a team making its record 37th straight NCAA Regional appearance and that was once ranked No. 2 in the country this season would be the favorite in its regional.

That’s not the case in this year’s NCAA Tournament for Miami (Fla.), which will need to get past Jacksonville, Bethune-Cookman and the eighth-overall seed and favorite Florida to take the Gainesville Region to advance to the Super Regionals. Read the rest of this entry »

The Campbell Camels will be moving to the Big South conference according to a report in The Fayetteville Observer. Campbell was a charter member of the Big South back in 1983 but left in 1994 for the Trans America Athletic Conference which later became the Atlantic Sun Conference. The school will be a member of the Atlantic Sun through the 2010-2011 school year before making the transition to the Big South for the 2011-2012 season. Read the rest of this entry »

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State (35-12) scored early and often Wednesday night in cruising to a 15-5 victory over Florida International (30-19) on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium. The Seminoles tallied 11 runs in the first three innings as every FSU starter registered a hit as it was the first meeting between the two schools since 1991.
