FROM PRESS RELEASE
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (2/25/08) – After managing just one hit over the first seven innings, Temple’s bats finally came alive in the final two frames, banging out seven hits and three runs. But the late rally came up just short, allowing host Bethune-Cookman to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Cherry and White in the series finale on Monday at Jackie Robinson Park.
BCU starter Eric Thomas (1-0) kept the Owls off balance through seven shutout innings, surrendering only an infield single to senior Stan Orzechowski (Philadelphia, PA / Northeast Catholic) in the third. The Wildcats went to the bullpen in the eighth with a 1-0 lead and Temple looked to take full advantage of the change on the mound.
