Huskers Host Red/White Series; Head to Iowa
The Nebraska baseball program closes the fall portion of its workouts next week with three games, including the Huskers’ first-ever fall road trip.
Nebraska will conduct its annual Red-White Series on Tuesday, Oct. 14, and Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Sherman Field (225 West South Street). Tuesday’s first pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. with Wednesday’s game slated for a 3:05 p.m. first pitch. The Huskers will then travel to Iowa City, Iowa, to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes in the fall finale on Friday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m. There is no admission charge for any of the three games next week.

Mississippi State Baseball Alumni Gather Next Weekend On Campus
STARKVILLE, Miss. - Plans are moving forward for the 13th alumni baseball weekend next week at Mississippi State. The biennial event, scheduled October 18-19, is expected to draw more than 50 former baseball players and managers representing teams spanning eight decades of Mississippi State baseball to the MSU campus.
The weekend schedule kicks off Saturday at 1 p.m. with an alumni golf tournament at the MSU Golf Course, followed by a dinner in the Bryan Athletic Administration Building. Capping the weekend will be the 2008 alumni baseball game, with Diamond Dogs of the past teaming with members of the 2009 Mississippi State team in a Maroon/White game at Dudy Noble Field. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. and is open to the public with no charge for admission.

Baseball to Scrimmage Saturday at Taylor Stadium
The Mizzou baseball team will continue its fall practice with a scrimmage Saturday before the MU football game against Oklahoma State. The baseball action will get underway at 1:30 p.m. at Taylor Stadium. The intersquad scrimmage will be open to the public and is free of charge.

He talks about his background and how UT is different from the University of Miami (FL) and the Cincinnati Reds who are two of his former employers. Oklahoma State will conclude its fall baseball practices with an inter-squad tournament later this month at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium. The Cowboys will play games Oct. 21-24 and Oct. 27-29 beginning at approximately 3:15 p.m. each day.
“Things have been going really well for us this fall, and this is a culmination of everything we’ve been working on,” said OSU head coach Frank Anderson. “It gives us a chance to put guys in game situations and put them under some pressure and see how they respond.”

The New York Times has put out an article today about the Andrew Oliver situation which ended up getting him suspended before the NCAA Tournament. He ended up getting suspended for his relationship with an agent after being drafted out of high school.

Rosters Set For Baseball Orange & White Series
Tennessee head baseball coach Todd Raleigh announced the rosters Thursday for the second annual Orange & White World Series, a seven-game fall intrasquad series set to begin Friday at Robert M. Lindsey Field at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Friday’s game begins at 6 p.m.
The White team, managed by assistant coach Bradley LeCroy and volunteer assistant coach Nate Headley, will send sophomore left-hander Bryan Morgado to the mound Friday. Morgado’s 4.59 ERA from a season ago is the best of any returning starter, and his five wins last year are tied for the most among returners. In 80 1/3 innings as a freshman, the Miami, Fla., native recorded 104 strikeouts while limiting opposing batters to a .239 average.

Baylor baseball will hold its annual Burgers on the Berm event Friday, Oct. 10, at Baylor Ballpark. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. CDT; admission is free, but donations are appreciated and go directly to support the Baylor Diamond Girls.
An autumn tradition on the Baylor campus, Burgers on the Berm allows fans a chance to see the Bears in action and a chance to meet the players. The Bears will host an intrasquad scrimmage during the event. Read the rest of this entry »

Louisiana Tech Bulldog Baseball Sets Fall Schedule
For the first time in the Wade Simoneaux era at Louisiana Tech, the Bulldog baseball team will play four fall games against outside competition.
Simoneaux announced Monday that Louisiana Tech would play LSU-Shreveport Oct. 3, Panola Junior College Oct. 9, Grambling State Oct. 16 and Bossier Parish Community College Oct. 18.

It is has been over 4 weeks since my last update on the new Field Turf going in at Disch Falk Field. Since my last update it shows just bare ground well today they have the New Field Turf laid out and ready for the final touches. They need to put in the cut outs for the base path and the pitching mound and also finish the warning track around the outfield.

Georgetown Baseball Announces Incoming Recruiting Class
- Head Coach Pete Wilk announced that Georgetown Baseball will be welcoming eight new players to the fold this upcoming season. Billy Cosmopulous, Nick Geary, Will Harris, Alex Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Bobby Kirby, Andy Lentz and Rand Ravnaas comprise the incoming class that will try and help the Hoyas move up in the BIG EAST pecking order.

Augie and Company have already started on the “Road to Omaha”. Today’s intrasquad scrimmage was held at the Dell Diamond due to Dish Falk Field turf being replace with Field Turf. This is the third straight fall that Texas has had to use the Round Rock Express facility as the last two years Disch-Falk Field was being remodel.
The scrimmage took place in front of about 12-15 scouts. It was open to the public so, I took advantage of a fantastic late summer afternoon to go and watch some College Baseball.

Baylor one of four programs with two players on Baseball America list.
Baylor right-handed pitchers Kendal Volz and Shawn Tolleson were two of 25 student-athletes listed as Baseball America’s top college prospects for the 2009 Major League Baseball First-Year Player, the publication announced Friday. Baylor joined North Carolina, Oklahoma State, California and LSU as the only programs with two players on the list.
