TonyZychLouisville The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the list today with number 78 in our countdown with Louisville sophomore RHP Tony Zych. He is from Monee Illinois and attended St. Rita High School where he played four seasons under Mike Zunica. He finished his senior season with a .426 batting average with eight homers and 30 RBI as a second baseman.

NotreDameBaseball NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame baseball team’s 2010 schedule, recently finalized and approved for release, will include early-season trips to Mississippi, Florida and Texas along with BIG EAST road series at USF, Georgetown, Seton Hall, West Virginia and Villanova. The slate also features the second annual Big Ten-BIG EAST Baseball Challenge, hosted by the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission.

LouisvilleAndrewClark LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville baseball head coach Dan McDonnell released the Cardinals’ 2010 schedule on Thursday and it includes 31 games at Jim Patterson Stadium, 41 games against BCS Conference schools and 12 games against NCAA Regional teams from last year.

The Cards, which won swept the BIG EAST Conference and regular season titles and advanced to the NCAA Super Regional in 2009, will play seven games against Big Ten competition and six games against Southeastern Conference teams, including a three-game series at reigning SEC champion Ole Miss.

GeorgeSpringerUConn STORRS, Conn. – In 2010, the University of Connecticut baseball team is scheduled to play 56 regular season games in the program’s 115th season, including games against 29 opponents from 14 conferences throughout the country.

UConn will host 20 games at J.O. Christian Field in the upcoming season, including three-game series against four BIG EAST opponents. The Huskies’ schedule features nine opponents from the BIG EAST Conference, and is highlighted by a challenging early season agenda. The team’s first 12 games of the 2010 season will be against programs in the Pac10, Big Ten, Big West, Conference USA, SEC and the ACC.

PittLogo The University of Pittsburgh is currently in the process of getting a new Olympic sports facility which will be used for the baseball, softball, and soccer programs. The baseball facility is expected to include hitting and pitching practice areas, team dugouts and a press box. Synthetic grass will allow the Panthers to play and practice throughout the year, while lighting will allow for evening games.

JoeWitkowskiStJohn's QUEENS, N.Y. – To cap its fall season, the St. John’s baseball team will hold its Red-Gray Intrasquad World Series at Kaiser Stadium beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 19. The three-game set continues with games at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 20 and 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 21. Batting practice will be held at 12:30 p.m. prior to each contest. The games are open to the public and admission is free.
