St. John’s to play Fall Series on Monday

QUEENS, N.Y. – To cap its fall season, the St. John’s baseball team will hold its Red-Gray Intrasquad World Series at Kaiser Stadium beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 19. The three-game set continues with games at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 20 and 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 21. Batting practice will be held at 12:30 p.m. prior to each contest. The games are open to the public and admission is free.

Greg Mamula added to Cincinnati coaching staff

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati Baseball team has named Greg Mamula as an assistant coach, head coach Brian Cleary announced today. Mamula joins the staff after three years as the head coach at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. During his tenure, he averaged 41 wins per season while compiling an overall coaching record of 124-45 (.734).

Notre Dame to hold Blue-Gold Series starting Tuesday

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame baseball team will hold its annual Blue-Gold intrasquad series this week at Eck Stadium, with the seven-inning games to be played on Tuesday, Oct. 13 (4:00 p.m.), Wednesday, Oct. 14 (4:00) and Thursday, Oct. 15 (4:00). Each game is open to the public and free-of-charge.

"We have had a terrific and competitive fall practice schedule," said fourth-year head coach Dave Schrage. "The Blue-Gold series is a great way for the players to wrap up all their hard work with three competitive battles against one another."

South Florida takes part in “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes”

I am always looking for interesting stories on college baseball teams and today I came across this interesting article about the South Florida baseball team which took part in the second annual “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event on campus recently. The event consisted saw the baseball players marching in high heels for a mile. You can check out the full press release below.

Georgetown releases 2010 Schedule

Washington, D.C. – The Georgetown University baseball team announced their 2010 schedule on Monday afternoon. The Hoyas will play nine BIG EAST series this season, five at Shirley Povich Field. GU will also take on the top six teams in the BIG EAST standings from 2009 and national power Virginia.

Interview with Notre Dame’s Freshmen

A group of three Notre Dame seniors in Brayden Ashdown, Ryne Intlekofer, and Steven Mazur recently sat down with the five incoming freshmen to discuss the reasons that the newcomers came to South Bend. Notre Dame is looking to rebound after an overall record of 36-23 while going 15-12 in the Big East.

South Florida opens up Fall Practice

TAMPA – Under the guidance of fourth year head coach and reigning BIG EAST Coach of the Year Lelo Prado, the University of South Florida baseball team opens its fall practice schedule with some lofty expectations for the 2010 season.

"We are very excited to get started together as a team," said Prado. "Everyone looks bigger, stronger and faster. This group has a lot of veteran players that have played one or two years here and I expect to see a big improvement. We are just glad it is here."
