Share The story on June 30th was the complete game nine inning no-hitter by Stanford sophomore RHP Jordan Pries. He gave up only three base runners which all came on walks. He ended up tossing 107 pitches with 66 for strikes. Here are the rest of the top performers for the night.

Share Here are the Top Performers from the Cape Cod Baseball League for Sunday, June 27th. The best game by a position player was by Utah’s C.J. Cron who went 4-4 with a double and a run scored against Harwich. The best pitching performance came from Andrew Gagnon of Long Beach State who pitched seven inning giving up only two hits and one walk while striking out nine batters.

(Overland Park, KS) – Five-time all-American and Big West Conference pitcher of the year Daniel Bibona from the University of California, Irvine, has been selected as the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award winner for baseball.
The award, chosen by a nationwide vote of Division I baseball coaches, national media and fans, is awarded annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in NCAA® Division I baseball. The announcement and trophy presentation were made today by Lowe’s, an official Corporate Partner of the NCAA, during the NCAA College World Series® in Omaha.

LOS ANGELES – Left-hander Rob Rasmussen tossed a two-hit complete game in a decisive Game 3 of the NCAA Los Angeles Super Regional before 1,967 at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Sunday night, leading UCLA to an 8-1 victory over Cal State Fullerton and the program’s first berth in the College World Series since 1997.
Rasmussen (11-2) notched his team-leading 11th victory, striking out nine batters and issuing one walk. Rasmussen, who was selected in the second round of last week’s MLB Draft by the Florida Marlins (73rd overall), limited the Titans (46-18) to one run and two hits in his first career complete game.

LOS ANGELES – The UCLA baseball team overcame a 6-5 deficit with two outs in the ninth inning, using a two-run, two-out homer from Tyler Rahmatulla, before scoring four runs in the top of the 10th to defeat Cal State Fullerton, 11-7, and force a decisive Game 3 in a best-of-three NCAA Super Regional series on Saturday night.
Saturday’s win at Steele Field at Jackie Robinson Stadium marked the Bruins’ first-ever NCAA Super Regional victory (Super Regional format began in 1999). The winner of Sunday night’s 7 p.m. contest earns a trip to the eight-team field at the 2010 College World Series in Omaha, Neb.

Share Los Angeles – Nick Ramirez delivered the key base hit and later pitched out of a huge ninth-inning jam to save Cal State Fullerton’s 4-3 victory Friday night over UCLA in the opening game of an NCAA best 2-out-of 3 Super Regional.
Ramirez picked up his 11th save after stranding runners at first and third with no outs in the ninth. His bases-loaded single keyed a 3-run fourth inning and Christian Colon’s solo home run in the fifth proved the decisive run. Fullerton improved to 46-16 and UCLA fell to 46-14 after its third loss of the year to the Titans, who also have won 19 of the last 22 meetings.

Share UCLA is hosting their first Super Regional since 1986 after starting the season with a 22-0 record before losing to Stanford in Pac-10 play and ended up with the #6 National Seed. UCLA is looking to reach Omaha for the first time since 1998, but will have to get through the Titans, who they were 0-2 against this season.
Fullerton isn’t so used to playing Super Regionals on the road. The program that’s a complete model of consistency has made has played their last 8 Super Regionals at Goodwin Field, their last away Super Regional being the 1999 series victory at Ohio State. Fullerton has history on their side as the Titans are 18-3 since Coach Savage took over the UCLA program. Also, the only other time the Titans lost the opening game of their Regional, they won the National Title (Lost to Pepperdine in the 2004 opener).

Share FULLERTON, CA – Junior Christian Colon finished 3-for-4 with three RBI while sophomore Nick Ramirez slugged a go-ahead two-run home run in the fifth inning to lift host and top-seeded Cal State Fullerton to a 9-5 victory over Minnesota on Monday night and clinch a berth in next weekend’s NCAA Super Regional.
The Titans (45-16 overall) finished 4-1 in regional play, winning four consecutive elimination games to clinch their eighth consecutive regional title after losing their opener to the Golden Gophers last Friday night. Fullerton will travel to Southern California rival UCLA for the best-of-three super regional round beginning on Friday night (June 11) at 7:30 p.m.

FULLERTON, CA – Cal State Fullerton’s Corey Jones finished with three hits, including his seventh home run of the season, and three RBI to lead a trio of Titans with three hits on the day, helping his team to an 11-3 victory over third-seeded New Mexico in an elimination game at the 2010 NCAA Baseball Regional at Goodwin Field.
Top-seeded Fullerton (43-16 overall, 2-1 in NCAA Regional play) advances to the regional championship against unbeaten and fourth-seeded Minnesota later tonight at 8 p.m. PDT. Should the Titans defeat the Golden Gophers, the two teams would meet in a winner-take-all game seven on Monday night (June 7) at 8 p.m. PDT.

The defending national champions got knocked down early and after nine innings in the Sunday elimination game at Jackie Robinson Stadium, they were out. UC Irvine jumped ahead early, extended their lead a bit and then hung on to take out LSU and send the throngs of purple and gold clad Tiger fans home disappointed with a 4-3 win. Read More →

LOS ANGELES – Right-hander Trevor Bauer recorded 11 strikeouts in eight-plus innings to earn the win and lead the No. 1-seed UCLA baseball team past No. 2-seed LSU, 6-3, and remain in the winners’ bracket of the NCAA Los Angeles Regional before 2,613 at Steele Field at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Saturday night.
Bauer (10-3) joined teammate Gerrit Cole as UCLA’s two 10-game winners, leading the Bruins into an NCAA Regional final for the third season in the last four years. Bauer limited LSU (41-21) to three runs (one earned) and seven hits, pitching into the ninth inning. He held the Tigers to five hits and no runs through the first eight frames.
