Set to the tune of a James Bond-themed Gold Finger Night, Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark went gold tonight as the Bombers took on the East Texas Pump Jacks. 300 lucky fans came home with Golden Foam Fingers as the Pump Jacks came away with a 12-4 victory in the first game of the two game set.

The Brazos Valley Bombers provided some early fireworks tonight, as they rallied from behind to defeat the McKinney Marshals by a score of 6-4. The Bombers, who improved to 17-17 on the season, will host the East Texas Pump Jacks tomorrow on Goldfinger Night.

I made the drive over to Bryan, Texas to catch the Game between Brazos Valley Bombers and the McKinney Marshals. Going into the game the Bombers were sitting in 3rd place of the Texas Collegiate League while the Marshals were in 4th place. On the mound for the Bombers was OU Pitcher Kennedy Winn who was sporting a 2-0 record with an 3.51 ERA while his counter part was Thomas Rooke who plays his college baseball for Kansas State.

(Coppell, Tx) The Victoria Generals needed extra innings Saturday night in Coppell to defeat the Copperheads in Texas Collegiate League Action. The Generals trailed 5-2 going into the top of the ninth. Michael Pair lead off with a walk and Chris Whitehead reaches first on a fielders choice, Joey Kenworthy walked and James Hipp tagged a 3 run home run to send the game into extra innings.

Share Brazos Valley Bombers Vs. Victoria Generals- Rained Out
Victoria, TX (July 17, 2009) –
The Brazos Valley Bombers bid to win consecutive games over first-place Victoria was cut short as the game tonight was postponed due to thunderstorms. Victoria was leading 2-0 in the second inning, but lightning and heavy rain in the area caused officials to postpone the game.

The Brazos Valley Bombers were on the verge of another come-from-behind victory tonight, but came up short in a 4-2 loss to the East Texas Pump Jacks. The Bombers scored two in the ninth inning, but the Pump Jacks closer Stephen Tromblee was able to stem the tide to collect the save.

East Texas Pump Jacks 8 McKinney Marshals 4
The East Texas Pump Jacks will return home at the end of the season’s longest road trip the same way they left – on a win streak.
The Pump Jacks downed the McKinney Marshals, 8-4, on Monday night, sweeping a two-game series from the TCL’s defending champs. East Texas rallied back from a 3-0 first inning deficit to tie the game in the fifth inning, then used a five-run sixth to take control of the game.
