Share The College Baseball Blog took in Game 1 on Monday between Bryant University and Franklin Pierce in Rindge NH at the home of the Franklin Pierce Ravens. The game featured the Bryant Bulldogs coming through the loser’s bracket thus they had to beat Franklin Pierce in two straight games to get the spot in the NCAA Division 2 College World Series. Rindge, NH – It will be Franklin Pierce and Bryant once again to battle for regional baseball supremacy. A late rally led #2 Bryant past #4 Caldwell Sunday 5-4 to set up an NCAA regional championship game with #1 Franklin Pierce. Share The College Baseball Blog is up in Rindge NH for the Division 2 Northeast Regional at Franklin Pierce University. We have an elimination game between Bryant University against Dowling College. Bryant will send David O’Brien to the mound as he sports a 6-1 record with a 2.04 ERA while Dowling will counter with Gabriel Duran who is 4-2 with a 4.50 ERA. Read the rest of this entry »

Bryant 10 LIU-CW Post 3
Rindge, NH – After a string of one-run losses, the #2 Bryant Bulldogs made sure they’re elimination game with #6 C.W. Post was never close, grabbing an early lead and cruising to a 10-3 win.
Nick Campbell (Raynham, Mass.) got the scoring started in the top of the first by bringing home Jason Alexander (Simsbury, CT) with a sacrifice fly. Alexander led off the game with a double down the right field line. Read the rest of this entry »

Southern Connecticut 6 Pace 1
RINDGE, N.H. – Senior starting pitcher Toby Nylin (Pleasant Valley, Conn.) pitched a complete-game four-hitter and recorded a career-high 11 strikeouts on Saturday to lead the Southern Connecticut State University baseball team to a 6-1 victory over Pace in an elimination game at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships at Dr. Pappas Field. Freshman left fielder Andrew Babb (Hopkinton, Mass.) hit 2-for-4 and drove in two runs for the Owls. With the win, SCSU improves to 35-16, while Pace falls to 31-23 with the loss. (May 9, 2008) – Third-seeded Franklin Pierce University, ranked 20th in this week’s National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and pingbaseball.com Division II polls and 29th in the Collegiate Baseball magazine rankings, notched a 5-2 victory over second-seeded Southern Connecticut State University, among team’s receiving votes in this week’s NCBWA poll, in today’s Northeast-10 Conference Baseball Championship opener, presented by Diamond Sports and UBS/The Ricciardi Group, at Dr. Arthur and Martha Pappas Field this afternoon. PLEASANTVILLE, NY – Vaulted by a pair of late-inning Mark Dondero (Medfield, Mass.) singles Saturday afternoon, the Bryant University baseball team claimed the outright 2008 Northeast-10 regular-season title for the first time since 1998 with a pair of road wins over Pace University, 3-0 and 1-0.
The Bulldogs (38-16, 25-5 NE-10) had a share of the conference title in 2000 and 2002, but with the wins earn the undisputed top seed in the final weekend of play. Read the rest of this entry »

Harvard 7 Northeastern 6
Brookline, Mass. – Matt Rogers’ decisive eighth inning home run powered Harvard to a 7-6 victory over Northeastern in the Crimson’s regular season finale Wednesday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.
With the score tied at six and one out in the top of the eighth, Rogers connected on the first pitch the saw from reliever Dan Zehr (1-4) for a no doubter, high over the scoreboard in left-center for his third long ball of the season. Share RINDGE, NH — The Bryant University baseball team split Thurday’s doubleheader against regionally top-seeded Franklin Pierce University, losing 7-5 in Game One while taking Game Two, 6-5.
Thanks to a one-out double in the bottom of the eight of Game Two Thursday from senior designated hitterMark Dondero (Medfield, Mass.), who scored the go-ahead run from second, the Bulldogs (17-11, 7-2 Northeast-10) earned a split with No. 5/7 Franklin Pierce (18-3, 5-1) with a 6-5 win in Thursday’s nightcap. SMITHFIELD, RI – The Bryant University baseball team took Northeast-10 rival Southern New Hampshire for 15 runs off 18 hits, batting around in the fifth inning, en route to the Bulldogs’ second shutout of the season, 15-0, Thursday at the Bryant Baseball Complex.
Bryant went up 3-0 by the end of the fourth, scoring one in the bottom of the first and two more in the fourth frame, before exploding for a nine-run, seven-hit fifth inning that saw the Bulldogs (14-10, 4-1 Northeast-10) bat around – and seal a 2008 regular-season sweep of Southern New Hampshire (2-11, 0-5).
